There was another thread where i was asked for pics....
I dont wanna drill holes in the roof of my truck and i dont like feeding coax out between the door and its seal, might squish it....
Anyways i have a mag mount for my pickup(16 ram sport with ctr console) so i routed it behind my dash, under console over the rear hump under the rear seat and up the back..
Now here is where it gets good....You wanna get the ant out the slideing window and on the roof..Dont need to tell you how to do that lol..
So now we need to close the rear window to keep elements out and not squat the coax(that can short coax and change resonance point plus what ever else)
Here is my idea.....I went to a glass shop and had a piece plexi cut to fit my window,i didnt go with a full sized piece but enuf...Drilled a hole just big enough to get my pl259 through and routed coax as above..So here are my pics of my set up...Its nothin special but no holes through my truck,no chances of squeezin it between door and seal and coax now runs in same direction and the air flow over the truck so coax aint rubbin the roof..
Plus when you are not useing it,undo ant from the mag and store in back seat..

Don't you have a body drain plug on the bottom of the cab in the back?

They put them in to drain the paint when the cab is dipped in they paint.

Those plugs are plastic and you can run a coax right through it. Seal it with some silicone sealer and you are done.

I wanted it simple and removeable incase i sold the trk or need to change coax ect...Plus this way a 70" +tall ant doesnt stick out all the time and no moon circles on my roof..

That would work for me. I've got a sliding bed cover on my truck. So if I run the coax like Ridgeline said and I want to pull the antenna off the roof, I wouldn't have any place to put the antenna. Doing it your way I could just stick it in the cab coax and all. Good idea!!

    That's a great setup Craig!

I don't have a sliding back window, so I used the drain hole from under the truck that Ridgeline referred to. This works good too, but it's a lot less convenient going under the truck if one wants to remove the coax and antenna completely. It's no problem for me, however, since I leave the antenna on the truck all the time but do disattach the magnet from the roof to prevent water damage when the truck is not in use.

Have you considered running bare cable through a tighter grommet then terminating with a pl-259? Seems like this could get a bit moist in bad weather.

    How do you figure that????
Already been through lotsa rain and snow up here in novascotia...Its all good bud....The only change ill make is a rubber seal between the edges of the plexi glass and slideing window..
The grommet is the smallest i could find that will fit the hole and still leave room for coax..Unless im driveing for hrs in fluffy snow or mega rain thats the only build up thats gonna happen on the back window..

Pretty easy for water to follow the cable in. It looks like you fed the coax connector though the hole. If you removed the connector you could reduce that hole size drastically.

Well i dont know how to solder coax and so far in the past year or so i have been useing it,nothin got wet and or soggy...

Suffice to say your not gonna be useing my idea so we dont have to worry bout you gettin soggy eh..

Dont like my set up or have issue with it,to bad..Its simple, works for my needs..You want perfection feel free to drop over and fix it..Nothin a lil dbl sode tape could fix and fill the tiny tiny gap..
