New Holland slide, helps front overhang when necessary, can move it to correct position for pulling rgn or step. Reasoning on brand is its the only one I've never had a problem with. Don't know your deal but there's my 2 ¢

I will only be running a step for the next year or two so moving it for that reason does not apply to me. Plus the stationary mount I was looking at had 2" movement placements.

I think the only 3 trucks in our fleet of 50 that have sliding fifth wheels are the quad axles. Like you, I already run 11,600-11,800 on the front axle so in four years I have never said to myself "If I could slide that fifth wheel I would be legal".

Wow, my W900L only carries like 9500# on the steering and I have the heavier Acert. The most I can get is like 13,500 and that was with like 52,000# on the drives and my 5th wheel almost over the front drive axle.:biggrin_25521:

Yeah she is a bit of a hoss. The stainless steel bumper, heavy front axle with HD brakes, and a steel cab doesn't help. Like I said tho, I've had 46,000# on the deck with the 5th wheel slid all the forward as far as it will go and it only transfered 85# to the steers.

I've narrowed it down to the rear suspension. Everyone with a Pete and apparently a WS and some other brands with the 4-bag suspension always seems to carry more weight on the steering. I've got W9's with both long and short WB and none can get anywhere near the weight needed on the steering. I've even tried putting an airbag in front of the 5th wheel known as an "ape" to transfer weight and could only get about 200# more up front which is a long way from the 17,000# I need.:biggrin_2559:

I slide mine only because I pull several types of trailers. If your going to run a step all the time you probally will never move it.

    SHC Thanks this.

One has the AG460, two have AG400 and 2 has AG100. Might try the new AG400L on the next one.
