Sounds like brokerspeak, what it means is that he would like to move ten of those loads for that rate, and if you want one you've got it. Time to put him on ice and let him chill for awhile....

Oscar the KW retiring somewhere nice and sunny with his woman at his side.
bullhaulerswife and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
I just won 5 million dollars in the state lotto. They asked "me what I was going to do now and I informed them I would keep on trucking till it was all gone"!
Tennesseahawk and NoCoCraig Thank this. -
Man oh man......I just called on an LS load as soon as it popped up...And it was already covered....
-
They won't pay that much but it's enough to make it worthwhile. When 90% of your customers require it you have to pay to play or go chase 2 dollar a mile freight off the boards. I don't work on a mileage rate anyway so I think I'll keep the work I have.

There's obviously a ton of trucks sitting in Cali. In this situation I expand my search, if I can find something that I can make money on, I bounce... but, you might just have to wait it out.
It's only 1400 on Tuesday.
I'd be getting really nervous come Thursday if it's still this bad.
But seriously, sometime late this afternoon something decent will pop, just don't get discouraged, keep refreshing the board, and be ready...
Let the cutthroats bleed themselves out, I've almost always found something really good just by being patient. -
Well....I get paid by the load....But I use the "Dollar per mile" to figure out what things cost me per mile....
So let's take the $5 million Liability Insurance with the $25,000 annual premium.....
I run 120K annually so just to pay that premium it would cost me $.20/m.....
My fuel bill annually comes out to $70K......So annually that costs me $.58/m......
So now we're at $.78/m right?......
I'm still paying a mortgage on a rig so that's costing me $.02/m.........
Registration.......Well that's $.02/m......
Maintenance is running $.04/m......
And since I have the pleasure to live in SO-CAL where truck parking is banned in most of it....I have to pay to "Park Air" at $.08m.......
I like to pay myself a salary of $32000 Net annually so that's "costing" $.26/m.....
Add in the $.10/m for "incidentals".....
Let's add everything up.....So that's if my math is correct....$1.30/m.........And that's the BEP.......
We all know there are other costs as well....
Permits....Fines (Yes #### happens...).....
Breakdowns where the warranty can't be used....
I currently average $2.07 on all miles....But....Somehow....That's barely getting it.....Last edited by a moderator: Oct 29, 2013
areelius Thanks this. -
Normally I wouldn't worry....But my rig was down for a DPF problem from last Monday to last Thursday....And it was same story for loads last week....
-
Well on one load board...The same 6 loads from UTI and TQL from Monday are still there.....
I guess even the Bottom-Feeders refuse to run that cheap........ -
Yes, just to be clear. I would NEVER move my truck for $1.10 a mile. I will not contribute to the problem.luvtotruck and areelius Thank this.
