Ron I don't want to compare #####, after running your numbers there's really no contest anyway. All I was saying with my initial post is that those insurance requirements aren't that unusual, and can actually be quite lucrative if you spend some money.

You've got to get out of that load board mentality, go beat on some doors and find some work that pays it's our there there trust me.

I don't know what 2008 was like, other than owners like you have told me you couldn't buy a load back then it was so bad. I agree this has been one screwed up year. It's supposed to be busy season for dry van freight around my parts and volume is way down compared to last year. Very slim pickings. Cheap loads going fast. You mentioned a LS load that was gone as soon as it popped up. Sometimes when they book one of their go-to trucks on a load they really have no intention of posting it will post up anyways, for whatever reason, a computer thing, seen it happen a bunch.

Not only that....I talked to the agent days before and told her I would be available for that load.....She normally has at least two of those loads per week....

    Oh well....

Now another issue....Since when does a 40K load that takes up 20' of the deck counts as a "partial"?

Any excuse to get stuff off the ground for cheap.......

I told that broker No way......

I just average 2.48 per mile, every mile, for the month of October, running Cali to Washington and back. Refer loads. Is it a flatbed thing

Yep......But don't you Reefer Tuggers start to slow down in a bit?

Anyway...I'm piecing together an LTL now....First part is paying almost $3K......Now I have to find another LTL that's not over 8'........

It will slow down in the next couple weeks. I'am in with a produce company, so year round is good for me, unless a bad crop, I do head to Arizona and Texas for a month or so for winter, but never more then 4-5 trips.

I have heard company's having a hard time getting trucks out of Oregon, CARB has been the main reason. Lumber has been hard to get on Central Cali of late.

Yeah...It's gonna be interesting to see if Lumber Rates increase or not....After the first of the new year....
I stopped running to the PAC-NW because I couldn't justify running tarped lumber at 48K paying that "big" $1.10/m from CanFor....Or Roseburg's mill....

Don't know where you're at in SoCal but if you can park anywhere near the west end of the San Fernando Valley, PM me and I'll connect you with great parking for $135/month in Woodland Hills.

Oh well....I'm looking to get a 20 acre lot by Big Bear....It's a "Steal" at $199K.....For Big Bear anyway....
