    I average $2.50/m on my out-bounds....I can get $4/m loads....But they're just Cross-Town loads.....Like from Long Beach to Fontuckey....

Back to the original thread...rates out of Cali have plumeted this last four weeks. In my company, I have seen a drop of more than 30% in loads. The rate seems to remain fairly stable (over 2.00/m), but we have a lot of drivers sitting and waiting.
    I have a theory...and this isn't a political issue.
I noticed the drop about the time of the shutdown. It appears that people, fearing what may come, have cut back in spending. The quickest place for them to cut back is with food.
    Buy less.
I read an article last week where farmers in Cali are plowing fields under because they can't sell their product. Produce doesn't keep.
I think we're seeing a backlash from the cutback.
In addition, the orders from large retailers for christmas are down...I think we're in for some rough sledding for a while.
Hopefully things will improve before long, but I don't hold a lot of hope.
    Just my take on things.

Mans right, just take a look at the LEI's,,,,look at Wally, put a major pre xmas sale of big ticket items on the web today at fire sale prices. No one is expecting a banner year but more of a status quo.

Why would a hand go somewhere without knowing how he's gonna get out?

You know, if we refuse to pull it cheap they will have to raise the rate ( if they want it moved )....even mega's have a bottom line and you pay it or you move on....
    just saying.....

I don't think the shutdown had much to do with it, it really didn't affect that many people. I think this whole health insurance thing has people scared. When some are seeing their premiums go up 100-300%, and others are having to purchace insurance when they never had it before, I think it has everyone shook up, and trying to budget for what is coming over the next several weeks until the end of the year.
