Hey all,
I've seen a huge increase in hotshot driving and it got me thinking. Im curious though, what's the true gain of running a hotshot pick-up versus a typical semi? I would assume a properly setup diesel rig pickup is equally, if not more expensive than a semi. Could it be taxes or maybe fuel cost ? I'm just curious if er have any sling shot guys who could clear this up or maybe someone who went from one to the other. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A hotshot? I read your headline and immediately thought of one of those new motorcycle things that are more car like getting tangled up with a big truck...

Hotshot is where its at. You should totally go for it

Yep, stand up in the rain to put your pants on and try to sleep in the back seat of a pickup every night. Should be comfortable. Rest your head on the Yeti.
Seriously, I was expediting in a van before I bought my tractor and the money just wasn't steady enough. Hotshot/Expedite are really only good if you spend about half of your time developing and keeping your own customers. Not as easy as it sounds.DSK333 Thanks this. -

It's no where near as expensive as a full 18 wheeler.

It's because they are exempt from some DOT regulations and the E-log requirements.

I went to look at a 2018 GMC Denali 3500 back in April. I'm in the market for a dually. MSRP was $96k!!!!
I left the lot disgusted. Even used beat up 1 tons they are asking $20k - $30 for them,.. with 200K+ miles. Insane.
If your just doing hotshot,.. a single axle day cab would seem like a better option to me. Same money,.. more truck.
