we are talking about landstar. They don't own trucks, they have brokers contracte to them and they have owner ops contracted to them. The loads get posted online on there load board. You go online and pick your loads, where you want to go and you book it. If you want to sit home you sit home, if you want to run to AZ you run to AZ. It's up to YOU, not a dispatcher.

Freight is slow but I've heard from all over the country that CRST Malone sucks. Just look at the trucks most of them drive. Generally they are old beat up rides. I know that isn't every thing but it could be a sign.
What about Dallas Mavis? or how about Ace Doran? I considering going with them, but they do not have a good western presence. Kinda important to have that for me where I live. -
Very interesting. I'd not heard of that method before. Thank you for the info. Learn something new every day
-
I just noticed Ace has a WY terminal. I never knew that. They did not have the western presence in 05 that their website shows now!

I spoke to Joethemechanic about ace before wiseone banned him. Sounded pretty good to me.

Scarecrow, I'm an o/o leased to Crete and am happy here. So you can have an idea of the income I'll post my year end financial statement. I'm paid on a mileage basis. While there are probably better paying % companies, I'm not sure when all is said and done that my net income would be any better. Anyway, read the info and make your own decision.
John, following you will find your December 2007 monthly financial statement.
The December numbers represent your final financial statement for 2007. They
should agree with Schedule C of your federal income tax return although there
may be some adjustment as additional income tax information is received.
In looking at the December financials, you are showing a Net Profit of $74,087* for
the year-to-date period. This comes out to $0.491 cents per mile and is based
on 151,027 paid miles. High productivity and strong cost control led to an
excellent year. Congratulations!
You averaged 12,586 paid miles per month this year compared with 12,006
monthly miles you averaged last year. You were out on the road 333 days
through the end of December 2007 (91% in service) and averaged 454 miles for
each day you were out.
Your maintenance expense for 2007 was $4,153 or $0.028 cpm and your tractor
supplies expense was $1,724 or $0.011 cpm. Together your variable tractor
expenses end the year a little less than expectations.
Fuel costs averaged $0.428 cpm less fuel surcharge reimbursements of $0.272.
This results in a net fuel cost of $0.156 which is an excellent fuel cost.
Your tractor depreciation expense for 2007 was $18,558 or $0.123 cpm. 2007
was the second year of a four year depreciation schedule for your tractor.
*Subtract $10k for taxes and $10k for maintainance escrow.
Just curious how my year end net compairs to others. Anyone want to share? If not I understand. I post this info so others can see real numbers, and help them make their own decision about becoming an o/o.
P.S. I drove almost 14k miles in January. CPA hasn't posted my January statement yet, so I'm not sure of profit/expenses yet. Last year CPA didn't post my Jan.,Feb, or March statements till late April due to the first of the year being very busy. -
Is Joe leased to Ace?
acedoran is their website. Maybe they have a TX terminal. Its possible they would work for you. -
he was. they had some problems so he went and got his own authority. he still recomends them.

How is it that the Euro is so high and the economies of the EU seem to be in much better shape than the USA when we all know that these countries are very left wing socialist states? May be the propaganda that Americans have been fed for ever is not really the truth and the fact is that when poverty is reduced when everyone has healthcare and the whole aim of government is social justice every one benefits.
