This is just a curiosity thread as I always like to keep options on the back burner in case what I'm currently doing falls apart. What are some small/medium sized companies that hire outta Western NC/Upstate SC area that have really nice equipment. I'm talking Peterbilts/Kenworths. I've been driving for a few years and always been in a Freightliner. If I were to leave here I'd like to drive something real nice for a change. I would hate to die having never driven one. :biggrin_25525:

I just looked them all up:

Volunteer, Davis, and shaw no not hire out of the carolinas. Couldnt find anything on Transco. Shaw trucks are all leased through penski most of which suck there FL's and Volvos. (They're head terminal is right next to one of our terminals I'm quite familar with them as they are one of our competitors)

OH and Shaw, and Davis both do Per-Deim pay....its not an option....

Haha yea I actually posted in a different thread how you got me thinking on the scales issue. As for the pay. I actually make .40 cpm. If you read the thread I basically implied "if this ever goes south". I believe in options because you never know what the future holds. A year from now this company could go belly up and I don't wanna be unemployed and looking at any point ever in my life. That's reasonable isn't it? You will notice if you look up all my threads I am constantly asking questions about other companies and deals. Always keeping my ear to the ground. But yes, for now I am happy. So don't take it as OMG I'm looking for a job this second heh.

And 3400 miles isn't every week. Just this one. Last week was more around 2900-3000. It runs from about 2800 up to 3600 occaisionally.

Absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your fingers on the industry pulse and knowing what's out there. We as drivers haven't got a clue as to the financial condition of our carriers and like the man said , could fold up.

There are more Arrows out there, trust me.

Are you near Mt. Airy, N.C. ? Tons of companies operate out of there. Cooke has Petes. WL&A use to have KW's or Petes. Both small companies (200 trucks).
