$1500-1800 after fuel and tolls?????? i need twice that. close up shop and sell off or settle for sub par drivers. what you are trying to do is pull off a lease purchase scam(regardless of how you word it or pay), so you better get a good lawyer

    MNdriver Thanks this.

    ???

explain your thoughts on this. Where is a company driver making $1.20 per mile pulling general freight?

    Cummins_444 and volvodriver01 Thank this.

Tractorfleet3- I cannot really avoid going into Canada right now because honestly the freight I get inbound/outbound is too good to pass up.

BigbadBill- Thanks for your reply our breakeven is high but a few trucks with payments that we factor into our cost...you hit the nail on the coffin I know this model is the way EXPEDITE companies work that is originally where we got the idea while having dinner with the owner of an expediting company in PA...so we figured if there is a way to make this model work in the OTR world...in your experience do you think its a reality at all to make this work?

Fast123- I haul expedite and have 60/40 split....I take the 60% and cover fuel/repairs. Again, if you have a fuel strategy in place then that should take care of the diesel issue . In regards to tolls, trailer rental etc...that is not part of the expedite model. Trailers are covered by the company offering the freight and tolls are also covered - at least I don't take any freight where I have to cover tolls myself, the client should cover that cost. Trailer issues (rental, repairs, etc) are also covered by the company offering the freight. As you can see you would still be responsible for those items as you are the one getting the freight - that's if you're trying to copy the Expedite model. On another note, I found your cost per mile to operate to be within range....everyone's cost will be a lil different but it's def within higher part of the range. Fast---- do you need capacity to cover your freight now?? Last note- you should consider bringing O/O on board and that will immediately balance out your personal fleet situation with your drivers and the lack of miles they're willing to do. Since you have the freight available bringing on just a few O/O on board you can easily leverage your way out of your problem until you get drivers willing to work.

it's not that the drivers don't want to work.

it's they want to make some money.

.43/mile and pay for fuel and tolls and trailer ???

what do they bring $50 ??

pay them per mile and pay your own bills.

    or get O/O.

I asked for it to be explained. I still don't get how his scam works.

    sounds similar to Buel

    I did ,twice.

    here are the quotes,

"We like to think we pay decent .38 CPM to start up to .43 CPM depending on years exp and how hard the driver runs. We are having trouble finding guys that can do 2500 miles per let alone asking to do 3,000 per week."

    "Company provides truck and trailer
Driver pays for fuel & Tolls and is paid percentage of the load/gross or a standard rate per mile
    Spilt trailer cost
We would provide maintience on the truck "
