Small fleet owner (3 tractors) looking at leasing on with Load 1 out of Taylor, MI.
I would really appreciate hearing from fleet owners or owner operators who have worked with Load 1 in the past or present.
Thank you!!!

I have a guy come here all the time for us to fix his truck and he seems happy he pulls flats and refeers for them. The only problem he said he has with them is that when work slows down he sits for like 3 to 4 days at a time. But so do other companies. He wanted us to find him loads but load one doesnt let the driver do that.

Thanks! We will be getting into the regional dry van division to start. As we add to the fleet we may look into the specialized and expedite divisions. I don't believe they have a reefer division...

The owner saids he hauls refeers from time to time but I might be wrong. are your drivers from the detroit area?
-
Yes, and we are still looking for a couple more. I am not quite sure if a couple that I have will be accepted at Load 1...

I'm not certain about dry van O/O and how they are treated. Load One has some very good people working in the office. However on the step child side (specialized). A more appropreate name might be "Loaded Oneway" or "No Load". The policy is to cycle the drivers out of Detroit with their curtainside fleet. They'll post a truck in the destination area needing a load back to Michigan. If (usually) no one offers a load back, after delivery they will "scour" the board for a back haul, usually friday afternoon in a dry hole. Also, they will not triangulate you back to Taylor, Mi., it's direct or not at all. If you're local and there are alot of loads you can do well. Recently I heard that if you have your own trailer, they will not pay a greater percentage (currently 67%).

I have had a truck over there for a couple months in the dry van regional division. It is doing OK, and the driver gets home on weekends if he chooses.
I have seen reports of how trucks are doing, and the specialized division pays better... -
Do you have your own authority?,, If not,, why not get it?,, if you do,, why the heck are you leasing on to ANYONE.
-
Don't have it, and don't want it...
thejackal Thanks this. -
Well,, maybe you should rethink that,,I've had mine for awhile now, average $2 a mile for all miles ( my deadhead included) , don't sit, have brokers calling me and not the other way around, have 3 trucks and none sit, and alot of times round trip loads, (although I'm out of NC, good lane). I do use the load board which is "mymembersedge" only. Myself, I'm home EVERY week-end, the other 2 are if they want to.
