Smart Drive, why does the website say they record up to 200 hrs?

From their website........... Sounds like spying to me.

Does SmartDrive record all the time?

SmartDrive Extended Recording, with unrivaled video recording capability, helps you capture and store an uninterrupted and comprehensive picture of events that happen to your fleet vehicles and drivers – whenever and wherever they occur. Up to 200 hours of continuous recording.

How do you know when DriveCam is recording?
When the DriveCam camera is triggered to record, lights flash to notify the driver of the recording. In addition, drivers can manually capture video when needed. You can also set the DriveCam device for continual recording or live streaming. Continual recording captures up to 100 hours of video from the camera.

    SmartDrive Event Recorder FAQs

When a triggering event (described below) happens, the event recorder captures the 10
seconds before the triggering event and the 10 seconds after the triggering event, and
then uploads that 20 second video clip to the SmartDrive Review Center. The video clip is
then reviewed by a SmartDrive professional reviewer who looks for events of interest as
    agreed to by ICSA

It records 24/7/365... 200hrs then it loops..

The event 20sec is auto flagged and sent for review BUT at anytime they can log into it and look at any of it...

They record everything. Many new ones have AI that are constantly scanning your eyes.

So glad to be out of commercial trucking. Most choose to continue to subject themselves to these cams. Drivers should all go on strike until the cams are gone. Truckers should be marching on Washington demanding legislation to protect their privacy from these things.

So if they decide to go back 50 hours ago even though an event wasn't triggered, they can do that???

    Yup..!!
Drivers have been fired for rolling a stop sign... no event
Drivers have been fired for not putting on a seat belt when pulling up from the fuel island... n9 event
Drivers have been fired for not using hands free.. no event...

Even systems that don't have driver facing cameras the forward facing camera can see you in the hood mirror

I believe so..... I had an accident awhile back and the safety department asked what the exact time the accident occured so they could request footage from the drive cam company. I told them the camera never recorded the accident and they said it didn't matter.

If you ask me, I think that thing is recording you for hours and storing everything.

There are those who would like to use the hands free, but the radio mutes phone calls unless you’re sitting still.

I turn those down towards the ground. It helps for finagling into tight spots.

Sunglasses with mirror lenses should solve that problem.
