    I am looking to purchase another tractor. I am considering the Smart Shift Auto. I guess I'm getting old, but not needing to shift is sounding good to me. Please post any pros and cons about this choice here. Issues encountered when docking, on the highway, in the city, winter driving, downgrades, hills, etc. All comments welcomed, good or bad.

    When I worked for Andrus Transportation, they gave me a Volvo with an iShift tranny, it really was TOO simple. I had no issues driving in the winter, you can always go semi manual to have a little control, going down hill was never an issue, start out slow, turn on your jake, it did fine.

    I have driven one for several days. Trying to back up slow and easy is next to impossible. It goes with a jerk. Sometimes starting out through an intersection it gets hung up in a gear so I just manually bump it to the next one. I think theres much better autos out there. Thats my limited experience with it. :biggrin_25520:

    apparently they are not all created equal
    driven a eaton in a kw
    and one in a 2014 cascadia
    no problem in either
    the auto cascadia gets better mpg then any of the manuals
    in our small fleet
