Can anyone tell me how hard and how expensive it may be to add a smart wheel to my 2014 T680?
currently it does not have one and my old truck did and honestly i miss having the controls at my finger tips.
I have not been able to find anything online about the Smart Wheel.
So also IF anyone can tell me what controls are in the T680 Smart Wheel?
I assume cruise control. but does it have phone controls, headlight and/or running light interrupt? Radio Controls? does it tie into the Nav Plus?

    thanks

I drove a 99 W900L several weeks ago that had one of these. Most ridiculous gaudy goofy uncomfortable steering wheel I've ever been unfortunate enough to drive. If I had one in a truck I'd be looking into how to get rid of it. Not the other way around. They're about as unergonomic as it gets. Maybe something has changed in 15 years?

RC they are not the same steer as 15 years ago, and I agree those looked horrible. The new ones look like the factory wheel except the center piece is a little different to accommodate the controls.

I looked at one with the smart wheel once. I think it just had very basic controls, cruise and engine break I think. Can't remember there being anything else. It was a couple years ago

You may need more than the wheel, like the body ecm to be setup to reconginze it.

From what i could find online, it looks like KW has intergrated the smart wheel to work with the nav plus, if you have it.
And i do, which is more why im looking into it.
What i cant find out yet, is since I have the Diamknd interior, which i think was supposed to come with the smart wheel, but the previous owner opted no, is the wiring there, or then what do i neex, and then how much?
I couldnt even find a used smart wheel online

Wouldn’t it be easier to call a few dealers, and get an accurate idea of parts and labor? You’re asking a very exact question, and I doubt that you’ll find an answer on here.

Or you could stay at a Holiday Inn!

    Good luck

I have called 4 dealers so far. Got answers from, no one ever asked me that question, to I would have to call Pacar and get back to you.
Heck they couldn't even tell me what the new wheel does.
So at least if anyone has a newer smart wheel, 2015 or newer, could you tell me what it has on it and will control?

Sorry that you’ve had no luck in finding a straight answer to your question. Have you tried calling Paccar / Peterbilt direct to the engineering department ? Although I’ve found that because of legal issues, that usually they won’t commit to an answer. But worth the try. With everything running through a computer these days, almost impossible to know if swap would be successful. I wonder if anyone at Fitzgerald would know.

It might be one of those situations where “you can’t get there, from here.

    Good luck
