I guess I should agree with your group of commentators that are always here. Even though I have read other threads were you guys gang up on people with bad experiences unreasonably.
I guess ya'll want me to say my tire gauge depth reader reading less than 2 32nds and me seeing wobbly spots plus it being an old aged tire means nothing. Wow.. I guess keep following the bandwagon of unreason enabling accidents on the road. I have pride of my work unlike you guys. Do you guys even drive anymore or just like playing with people here? Call your other regular commentators to please attack reason also thanks. Maybe SmartWay owner will buy you all some pizza lol. While you expose families to deadly accidents.

My boss makes us take a photo with the tread depth gauge properly inserted into the tread. If the photo shows the tread out of company specs, I submit a work order for the replacement tire immediately. Any other tire issues are handled the same way, ie, cuts, tread separation, dry rot, etc.

You say there's dry rot, uneven tire wear causing it to wobble, and low tread. Where's the proof? We can only judge and/or comment on what we see and we are not seeing the evidence. Photos go a long way in keeping the hounds at bay.

How long have you been driving man? Who is attacking you? I certainly wasn't attacking you, and it certainly isn't my nature to attack people even when attacked. If you truly read some of these threads, you might have seen that I've taken an internet beating on some of these threads, because I have unpopular opinions a lot of times. It don't mean anything. Doesn't change how I feel on things. FYI, I do drive and I'm about to enter my 15th year. My experience, education, and your picture suggests to me, that the tire is ok. It ain't the prettiest tire I've seen, but if I grab a trailer with that meat, I would run it. Now I ain't one to attack you, but you're right, there are other guys that will absolutely maul you because of how whiny you're coming off. You need to understand that folks are gonna have differing opinions. Doesn't make them an unsafe driver or one that "exposes families to deadly accidents." A trailer tire certainly won't do that lol. Anyway driver, hopefully you find a company that suits your needs and helps you prosper. I wish you well.

I have had tires explode on me that look better than that. In fact I previously posted a thread here in which I showed a shredded tire exploding on me. And that thread I posted everyone was on my side. Keep in mind this tire in the picture above was worse than the one that exploded on me previously.
Not only did I check the depth of the tire but we showed the above picture to an FMCSA auditor. And he told us that's a guaranteed out of service tire.
You guys willing to follow the bandwagon and ok with having a bad tire replaced with another bad tire is very common of many drivers who wouldn't like to take the time to have a replacement done. And instead decide to run with out of service tires down the highway.
That is why often tire chunks are seen all over the highway and other truckers like me have to swerve to avoid the huge tire flaps.
(SIDE NOTE: I use to have a previous account on TR but forgot the password and also changed my email since then)

It'll be 20 years next February for me. Thank's for calling me whiny shows your calm demeanor in approaching things fairly.
When I mean attacked is by ya'lls group being unreasonable. No need to stress, glad you are here.
We are still missing other group regulars to comment like Frank Speak, I like his avatar picture.
I have literally seen 2 times trailer tires exploding damaging the body of cars driving next to them. I can post links of YouTube videos of how powerful a trailer tire exploding is if you need visual references.
If you have been CONSTANTLY driving in those 15 years as you mentioned 15 years. Then you would easily recognize cars and semi trucks sometimes swerve wildly to avoid a huge chunk of tire on the road.
I have seen numerous times unsafe avoidance swerving in which an accident between cars or trucks almost happen.

Yes I've driven constantly. I've maybe been out of a truck for a total of 11 months in that time. One due to illness(5 months) the other 6 due to other issues that isn't important to this thread. Point being, we've both been out here long enough to understand that tires blow. There's any number of reasons why they blow. Retreads lose the retreaded part. Some tires have been ran too long. Some are defective. Some had too low air pressure. That's something that never gets talked about. How many drivers wear down tires because they don't check the air pressure regularly? It's the nature of the beast. Sometimes I've ran a less than gorgeous tire down the road to get it replaced. Tire damage is not totally unavoidable. Tires will blow and pieces will be on the road. What's to be done? It's the nature of the beast.

To be fair the tread on that tire did look a little too low, plus it looked like it had a little bit of feathering going on.
I’ve had a few tires where previous drivers didn’t report them to Road Service like they were required to (the old “pass the buck”routine) and the trailer ends up being OOS for tire replacement(s) ,which could screw up a delivery appointment! The most recent case I had the driver drove over 150 miles with a BLOWOUT and dropped off the trailer at a company terminal. I was supposed to deliver the load the next day in New Jersey on my way home. Not surprisingly I had the trailer put in the shop-head of the shop took photos of the tire and sent them to our company headquarters and my fleet manager (who is based at company headquarters as well) asked me to take photos of it and send them to him too. The driver who dropped off the trailer in that condition had a lot to answer for! The load came out of Atlanta (Sweetwater beer load) so he had TWO PLACES en route he should’ve stopped at to get the tires replaced.

There was a reason that tire was replaced on someone else's trailer. If you're going to the trouble, and labor of replacing a tire, why would you put someone else's reject tire on another trailer? I agree, that tire shown has a bit of life left in it. But it doesn't make sense to replace a bad tire with another one.
