I cannot comment on the other issues you are having with the company, but I do have an observation on the tire issue.
The tire pictured is a drive tire. Sometimes I will put a used drive tire on the trailer to get me by until I can replace both tires on that axle end. Putting a new tire next to a used one is a waste of money.
Maybe, just maybe, your company was waiting until they could replace both and this was just a temporary solution.

Atwt and 88 Alpha Thank this.

I agree it doesn't make sense. A lot of people do it though. Still lots of outlaw...and just plain cheap...operators out there.

Has nothing to do with being cheap. Read my previous post.

    Atwt Thanks this.

Sorry, but I took your comment kinda personally. I’m not cheap, and I won’t put a new tire against an old tire. I’ll wait till I get either home or to a dealer that I trust will treat me right.
    Frugal? Yes. Cheap? No.

I never meant to imply you were cheap. Cheap is getting placed OOS for bad steering tires, getting new tires put on, getting the ticket signed off, and then putting the old tires back on. That's cheap. And stupid. I was driving the truck and when I saw the old tires back on the steering axle I quit right on the spot.

Lonesome, Bud A. and Atwt Thank this.

That is the story, Lyle. It's an example. An object lesson. A means of establishing a baseline. Okay?

    Lonesome and Atwt Thank this.

Wow. I thought the story was the op’s story.
My bad for not picking up on your hidden analogy.
Did you get some coal in your stocking for Christmas?

    Atwt Thanks this.

I tell drivers all of the time, with no depth gauge, they have an opinion... with a depth gauge they have an actual measurement. It ends the discussion contest that some mechanics and even ops people will try and get drivers into.

48Packard, Lonesome, 88 Alpha and 3 others Thank this.
