Ok trucking Fam... it starts like this.. 03/26/2021 1:30 pm pilot travel center parking lot.. (yesterday).

loads are booked up ready to go start pre trip .. I removed the curtains to get my day started.. I notice a flat bed just chilling and I think nothing of it.. I do notice that there is a hot shot blocking him.. flatbed decided that hotshot was taking to long in the passage way .. with the conversation they were having with another driver.. I sorta understand that part ... however I decided to pay no attention and carry on and remove the curtains and place them back properly.. button them etc...

I was fixing the curtains on the passenger side.. I noticed his tandems moving and I thought that he was attempting to go around the hotshot .. no big deal

however flatbed decided to take the parking space next me.. the problem is that his tandems were not in the position to do the maneuver.. (all I seen was trailer) and the load he was hauling swiping my truck damaging several sections in the front of my truck.. tire is done.. rim is bent.. (heavy impact) lights , mirrors , hood damage, door damage.. enough damage for me to be out of service.. a driver pointed out to me that my truck was leaking water.. I thought it might just be ac.. however this is more water than normal.. enough to bathe a child

I noticed every other truck idling and there was some water.. however not as much as my truck after the impact..

I attempted to stop him when I felt the impact first however it knocked me off balance honestly.. I grab the wheel beeping my horn hoping he will stop.. by that time he was sawing his trailer right through my truck.. he finally stopped.. I just wanted to know what the heck he was thinking.. turns out he was a student driver... his trainer left him out in the truck while going inside for a quick visit at McDonald’s probably.. the student messed my truck up y’all .. I mean I’m very disappointed with what has taken place..

I’m currently in a hotel over the weekend.. canceled all my loads ( in the hole we go )

the driver left before I could confirm anything and the police officer decided to .. call it a hit and run because the driver left the premises..

I was not trying to damage his license however he damaged my vehicle..

    FYI my very first truck

I managed to get insurance card from the responsible party

Nail his nuts to the wall. Eff 'em. I'd be a little more sympathetic if he'd stepped up and did what he could to right the situation. Running away is childish.

Yeah. At the very least the first thing anyone should do is get a picture of the truck sides and license plate in case they run.

Bummer... I used to wonder why drivers would only take their 10hr in pull through rest areas, freeway on ramps, and some obscure little known hidey-holes...
I also used to wonder why they would nose into a parking stall, instead of backing in like everyone else...
One night at a Pilot, I had the fender ripped off of a brand new 379 my company had just put me in...
Suddenly all of my questions were answered...

That sucks big time. Might as well try and find a rental. That’s going to be 30 days minimum of shop time if not 45+.
