I am looking to get back in the truck before I go hungry working for a non-profit. Anyone have any good inside information on these three companies? I have not heard much, but what I have heard is:
Smith- nothing
Cypress- old trucks, but well maintained, consistent weekends off, miles and home time
Averitt- ok but can lead with good miles then taper off. Also, I don't like Automatics- I need to feel the road.
Any help would be appreciated!

Smith - Out of Roaring Springs, PA? I ran for them for 14 months.. great company back in 08'. Do not know about now. They do haul a lot of paper and runs were 500-600 miles.
Markdaddyhusky Thanks this. -
I drive for Smith now... where do you live?

I live in south Atlanta Area. I believe they have a terminal in Ellenwood (Atlanta Suburb) about 30 miles from my house. Do they treat drivers ok? Can you really get home 3/4 weekends a month? I have 9 months OTR, and not since July 2010. My kids are older now, making OTR more feasible, but being home on weekends would be huge. I just worry it means I'll make minimum wage.

smith has a drop yard at usx in ellenwood, GA that place is loaded with Smith trucks. The terminal is clearly marked US xpress.
