If I was assigned a truck that even had the slightest smell of cigar/cigarette, I would refuse the truck and wait for a non-smoker truck.
Companies should absolutely charge the driver a cleaning fee wether they smoked in it or just trashed it.
Also no matter how much you clean the inside of a truck that's been smoked you will never fully get rid of that smell.brysol01 Thanks this. -
Oh my. Reminds me of when I worked for CFI in the mid 90's. Was at the Dallas terminal one day, and CFI called down to have the folks get a truck ready for a new driver. They went out to get it and about fell backwards on the ground. A female had been driving it, and had used a cut down 5 gallon pail for doing her business. Hadn't been dumped. That truck had been sitting in the hot Texas sun for a couple of weeks. The pail was slid up in the opening under the mattress area on that T600. I am not sure if they ever got the stink out of there and didn't stick around to see what they finally did.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

I would want to set fire to that swamp sow of a driver. What a horrible crime against a KW. Especially bad if it's a new one.NavigatorWife Thanks this.

That's a horrible crime against the air we all breathe! Especially since it's roasted in the Texas heat.

You cannot get the smell of smoke removed from a truck. It gets into the insulation, fabrics and even under the dash.

Sorry but you are mistaken

crzy: Why would you say that. I drove a Volvo 670 that was owned by a chain smoker. We had oit steamed clean to get the black out of everything. It was very clean when we were through and the cleaner really new his stuff. He used 2 kinds of smoke kill. Smell went away. After 5 months I could detect a faint smell of smoke. I left that company and 6 months later was waiting at a dock and my old truck showed up. Woman driver. I told her about my experiences with the truck. She asked me about the smoke smell. I went over to her truck and it was almost as if it had never been cleaned. My daughter works at a large car dealership. Smoked cars get detailed by a professional. She says it is temporary. Comes back within 6 months. They even tried the ozone treatment to no avail. Maybe if you threw away the seats, changed the headliner and any other fabric. Removed the floor mats and insulation it might improve. Or if the truck was only smoked in for 2 years or so.
