If you want to quit, quit once you get your own truck. In training you are going to be stressed enough. You may find yourself smoking a little more than normal from stress and/or boredom as well. Plus, if you request a smoking trainer, it's going to make it harder to quit. If you request a non-smoking trainer and you want a cigarette, life is going to suck. Get through the stress of training, then make that decision.

 

Prime is based in Missouri and you live in Missouri. That state or the companies within do not promote a smoke free environment. I only say that because of the cheap cigarette prices. I buy cartons there with regularity

 

Answer all questions honestly, with as few words as possible.
Never volunteer anything, the answer to the question not asked is silence.
The last thing I volunteered for was the volunteer army.

 

Prime is ok to start but understand there are much better companies out there.

I know several Prime drivers. They like the Company, like the people, like the pay. I think you are making a good choice. I believe they pay you during school and feed you too. Just be prepared for a long road training process. I think it is 50,000 miles to the Truck. You will start out doing all of the driving with the trainer in the passenger seat until said trainer feels comfortable with your skills and feels like you can handle things on your own. You will then begin running teams. Just be aware, most trainers at Prime are lease ops. Do NOT under any circumstances, let them or ANYBODY ELSE at Prime talk you into that!!!!!! On the plus side, they have some of the best rookie pay out there. This business is what YOU make of it. Good luck to you!

 

Let me add.......The road training used to be split in two phases with 2 separate trainers. PSD and TNT. Please keep us up to date on your adventure. It is always nice to follow new drivers progress. It can also help other aspiring drivers to make a decision on how to pursue their training.
