What if traffic or breakdowns hold you up? Are they told driver will be late? Is it held against the driver? Legitimately curious?

    Friend and The_vett Thank this.

Traffic is traffic. We don't get in a hurry because that's what leads to trouble. You want to waste some time? Get in a accident or incident. We've got a delivery wondow on frozen and dairy from 9am to midnight and meat & produce from 8pm to 6am. As long as you're in that window there's no service failure. Don't be late, don't be early either. They dispatch everything with plenty of time. If the warehouse is holding things up a failure is on them. Breakdowns are dealt with swiftly. I've never broken down before but I know they'll send a truck to rescue the load ASAP. It's not the end of the world or anything if it happens. I know of instances where outside carriers have broken down under a load and a private fleet truck bobtailed out to rescue it. They're good at what they do it's why they are what they are.

Ok sounds fair. Pretty much be awake when your supposed to and set the cruise at the speed limit and get comfy in the right lane.

And with regards to traffic drivers routinely call in a report accidents causing traffic jams to dispatch. That gets sent out to everyone's truck and they can listen to it getting a heads up. Very seldom do I come upon an accident or construction situation and not already know about it. Messages have been sent. Drivers looking out for each other. The navigation is dialed in to live traffic also. We just route around whatever and of course get paid on the hub miles no questions asked.

If I knew I’d have weekends off it’d be real hard to turn that down.

Friend, Knucklehead and The_vett Thank this.

I could probably get the weekend off but I'd have to slip seat to do it. I've been in my own truck for most of the time I've been here and I hate slip seating like anyone else does. But drivers do have to clean up after themselves here even in an assigned truck like mine. The trucks aren't pig stys. There's accountability for that and I think that's what turns a lot of drivers off. I get it. Not for everyone. I always kept a clean truck anyway so not an issue for me.

Definately don’t want to slip seat. I keep my truck clean. Drives me nuts if it ain’t presentable. I’d want my own truck. But that every weekend off is kinda a sticking point.

Off topic but if we’re talking about Walmart @rollin coal do you know if Walmart will open up a DC in the Boise,ID area. I have heard talks about it in the past just curious if you drivers get updates on possible new locations?
