Snake In A Truck

One of my worst fears living in rattler country. Can’t tell you how many times We’ve opened a door on the house or the shop to find one waiting for us. Two summers ago had 2 of our dogs step over one on the garage floor connected to the house one morning. When I opened the door in the house to the garage they walked out. It was dark and I hit the garage door opener and looked down and hello! Once while cleaning up after a hay cut I set a running Echo weed trimmer down on the ground to pick up some trash and I look over and one is coming toward it like it’s going to attack it. It stopped about 5 feet short and I picked up the trimmer and won that battle. My dad painted a pickup 30 years ago and had left all the masking tape and paper he pulled off laying on the shop floor over night. When we went back in a couple days later a little rattler had gotten stuck in a bunch of the tape and died.
I have yet to find a live one in a vehicle but we’ve found plenty of molted skins in them.
Bad thing is we also have a rat snake population that looks very close like a diamond back and they are harmless but they climb and like to get up under hoods on top of warm engines and parked trailers just to scare you. Lol!

 

well that settles that...

I. WILL. NOT. BE. GOING. TO. AUSTRALIA.

i will however, gladly go to Austria.....

 

Found this guy while pallet jacking the last pallet off.
Notice the angle of the picture? That’s because I was standing on top of another pallet!
Turns out it was a bull snake but it didn’t matter to me!

 

And people wonder why I live in the frozen north.

 

Two weeks ago I get home and after I turn the truck around and park I notice one of the dogs checking this out. I must of ran over it on the road base while turning around and it stuck to a tire until I got back on the concrete.

 

This 5 footer came out on a full moon night this past May between my shop and house.

"I've had it with these snakes on this truck!”
