How did being cut off make the driver crash through the guard rail?
Just let the car hit you, stay in your lane, drive the #### truck.
Its like swerving for a deer and rolling the truck...don't do it.
    Center punch the deer.
I tell my drivers to drive the truck in control first...gently go around the things they can avoid.
But a roll over or flying off a bridge is much worse than hitting a deer or a fender bender.
Cameras will show the car cutting off the truck causing the accident, no worries.
Happened last year to one of my drivers, she handled it perfectly, and the truck was down for about three days worth of body work, she was unscathed, load didn't spill. The Ford Escape that hit her was a bit of a mess, but the idiot driving it could see her, and chose to hit her anyway. I had another driver who took out a bear three years ago, he remembered my words and didn't swerve and crash. Took out the driving lights, bent the front bumper, truck was still driveable and he finished the delivery. He told me how he kept hearing my words I drove into his head to center punch it while braking if safe to do so, but maintaining control always and never swerve. Swerving is a bad idea, its a roll over in the ditch, going into oncoming traffic killing people, going off a bridge in this case, or some other terrible thing.
Bumpers are a great thing, cheap and easy to replace as well.

Is easy to blame the driver for swerving, till you find yourself in that situation you wont understand thats almost an automatic reaction.

I think your right about that, but it's something you need to train yourself for. After a while you won't just give in every time someone does that.

    Correct.
I have told myself a million times not to swerve, and my employees hear it all the time.
Which is why I don't, and my drivers don't.
A little bent metal is no big deal.
Nothing good comes out of swerving in a semi truck.
34 years of driving trucks has proven to me that I don't panic and do irrational things when something is going wrong.
We all have the choice, it's up to us to make the right decisions.

Should be charged with reckless homicide... if the tables was turned the trucker would be hung by the balls.
