Just my personal opinion, if the roads are bad enough that you need to chain, then there bad enough I’ll park until chain law is lifted
-
That works if you pull cheerios and toilet paper. But if I got a crane crew waiting on me its 200 bucks an hour that I'm paying if I'm late, that means the chains get used.Accidental Trucker, SavageMuffin, striker and 6 others Thank this.

Not to mention you could be parked for days making no money.
If I'm going to park it. I'd at least like to be in some civilization with food, shower, and toilet.JReding Thanks this. -
Been awhile since one of the independently wealthy truckers posted, how'd you make your money? Not uncommon for the chain law to be up in Colorado for 3 or 4 straight days, depending on the storm tracks, you might get 12 hrs that it's lifted, and then right back in place.JReding Thanks this.

What you talking about? All that stuff is standard equipment on a sleeper truck.
-
Typically I throw em on when such and such oil & gas states “chains are mandatory beyond this point.” lol

I'm of the same mind... Repair often, replace when necessary. You can build a complete set of chains for half the cost of buying a set.
