I was wandering if someone can please help me out. Now that i am a lease op i have to go up into Denver and Cheyenne in the winter month's as they don't send company guys into there because of the chain law. what type of chains are required, where can you get them and for how much? Also, i have never put them on or had any before so how hard and which tires do they need to be on. I don't want to get popped for not having them on my truck. thanks in advance and be safe.

Here's one thread that may help you out.
Chain Laws -
Talk to your company. They may have a supplier where you can get chains at a discount rate. For example, through my company, I can purchase a full set of chains for $220 or a full set of cables(which I prefer) for $175.
-
cables arent legal for all 6 sets, you must have 4 out of the 6 sets chains, thats the way I inturpreted the rules/laws from the company
-
I'm not saying you aren't rght. I may just have gotten lucky and not got caught all these years. I have been running nothing but cables since I have been driving. That includes this year. Nobody has ever said a word to me about not being able to use cables instead of chains.(company,DOT,whomever)
I also know that each state has different laws, so maybe some states require chains and not cables, but don't enforce the law? -
Schneider gives you 4 cables and 2 bags of chains, which isnt legal as far as I know in co or cali. But being that its a company truck and such a big fleet I dont think dot would really be dicks about it. But they are more for show anyways, schneider WILL NEVER force you to chain up so nobody will unless they are money hungry or live in states that get plenty of snow.
-
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but some states require that they be on the truck whether they are needed or not.
-
That is correct. The only time you are required to put them on the tire is if you plan to proceed past a point in which the highway patrol (or whomever is responsible for this) has enforced the chain law.
Seward made us carry 4 bags (2 chains per bag) on the truck in order to run the western states from Oct. thru May (I think?), but stated that drivers would be fired for even attempting to put chains on the tires.

Thanks Crow! I haven't been behind the wheel of a rig for 8 years, so the memory on that is a bit rusty. I think Oregon is one, and I think it's the end of April. My hubby was out there last spring.

I have aset, brand new, 4 miles on the single. Washington-Oregon, Colorado legal, 2 sets of single and 1 set of dual 1100-22/5, cam type. Send me a note. I ran 1 set of singles 4 miles, they come with the cam wrenches. Type in chain law on your search engine and you can get the rules for every state. Mine are
