does it really take 5 years and 6 months for a trucker to buy a house and 5 months 9 days to buy a car.

And also is this the answer

75k is the average pay for an experienced trucker with several years and hard work ethic, and very few people achieve this level of pay, because most new truckers hate the job, and leave soon after starting or are lazy.

Very few people achieve that pay because they don't have all the endorsements. Some new drivers get all the enodrsements plus TWIC & passport and then for some reason don't use them. All that is money in the paycheck.

And very few earn that because they refuse to be progressive in their career. They take a job and just sit there waiting for something to drop in their laps.

Can you give any specific advice for a driver who is starting out with a mega training carrier who wants to be progressive? Should he/she move from van/refer to flatbed to tanker to oversize?? I'd like to hear your opinion on the specifics.

hogwash. the benefits are (many times) included into the over all salary one makes. take away the benefits, then you see the real salaries.

specialized truckers can make that and more, but the average driver may top out at or about $55,000 per year.

it takes 5 years to buy a house..?? not for me...i have great credit, i can buy anything at any time.

stop reading and believing what you see on the interweave.

i find it hard to believe, we were trying to help you with another problem of yours, and you still doubted us, ( about having to live someplace else and not in the hiring radius of a company, and you wanna charge them with some sort of discrimination, or some crap like that), now you want to believe that the salaries for a trucker are etched in stone....good luck.....

you'll make a trucker for all of about 2..5 months......

Just realize, these are the same people who say there are more people working today then ever before ("low unemployment"), and the economic outlook is great for all, and the inflation index is too low. So, If I were you, I'd take this story with several grains of salt.

Much of the mainstream media today looks at the world through rose colored glasses. It's the only way they can get through the day as opposed to dealing in/with reality.

"obamanomics", it's their baby and they're going to love it, no matter how ugly it gets.

That is directly related to the problem with trucking. The CDL mills have a constant supply of people who lost their jobs in manufacturing, construction, and even white collar careers.

And don't forget, Yahoo Finance News is the same group who will do another hit piece on the trucking industry when they get around to it in another month or two when all the winter crashes begin happening. Claiming the truck drivers are killing motorists and are not properly paid and/or trained and that the industry must install speed limiters to a federal maximum of 65 mph and to reign in out-of-control truckers trying to live on paltry mileage rates :biggrin_25523:
