So do most trucks with an APU have HVAC controls in the sleeper?

The company I drive for has always these controls and when I see other trucks that idle all day and night I wonder do they also have HVAC and vents in the sleeper or do you have to try and drive the cool air from the front to the back? I never been in any other trucks other than the same ones my company provides us so I do not know. Thanks

The APU equipped trucks have a separate HVAC system and controls. Most, if not all run completely independent of the truck engine and HVAC system

Yes, most of the sleeper trucks have there own Heat and A/C in the bunk so you can close the curtains and and be comfortable.

yes trucks without apu's still have sleeper vents and hvac controls in the sleeper the difference is the truck has to be running for them to work.

trucks i have drove that had apu's had a separate control for the apu but still had the normal sleeper vent controls that work when the engine is running i would assume your truck has this as well. most sleeper trucks in extreme temps you have to set both the sleeper and front controls to keep the cabin comfortable while driving.

Thanks. I thought about this when a driver said that he removed the cabinet behind his seat and that made me wonder what he did with the hvac controls and the tubing.

It's always better to have the sleeper system on when using the ac, even at the lowest fan setting. It allows for complete circulation of the refrigerant and makes the ac more efficient.

If you are having to idle then you would want to use your APU system only, otherwise what is the point in even having one?

Most systems are independent from the truck but not all. I know for a fact that all the Dynasys systems are independent from the truck including the ones with CAT engines. Not sure about TK and Carrier though. I know one is separate and one ties into the truck system.

You will have to research what each one provides and how much. They are not all created equal.

This is what I do. And it gets awfully cold back there when I do that.
