You were close. But she said public place. Funny how a simple word change changes the game.

You're right. I said it was private property open to the public, but that guy wanted to make sure that I understood that I was nowhere near as smart as he is. So it goes.

That driver in the White Cascadia was becoming intolerant, stressed and angry to the point of verbal assault and perhaps intentions of battery. He was behaving irrational, and thats his problem, until he harms someone. Then it might involve someone with a permit to carry.....or the police. My suggestion to the OP, dont take on the responsibity to be public citizen number one unless you are well armed. Who knows how many of these immigrants with a CDL are armed with more than a tire thumper.

As for the trailer being legal, that is to be determined by the certified person doing the inspection. It can not be determined by a screen shot on a dark fuel island without a complete walk around to find hanging, missing, loose or worn parts that would directly impact the safe operation.

I totally agree with your first paragraph! The second one you left out on word from your walk around inspection. That word is BROKEN, the basic uni body structure of that trailer is defiantly BROKEN. I can not imagine any official at any level not putting that trailer OOS on the spot.

This. Never mind the fact that when we do a pre trip inspection we're supposed to look for issues like this to determine if the vehicle is safe to operate on the road( remember FMCSA says we're the "captain of the ship"). It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that trailer wasn't safe to operate on any road, let alone pull up to a fuel island with. Larry Holmes could've figured this $#!+ out!!

How else are you going to get it to a repair shop?
Odds are he's not heading to a shipper to pick up a load ...
