Its some companies that will train you...you just have to do your homework....but the companies that pay top dollar yea you will need tank experience. ...it was a job I was thinking of getting rid of my truck for but didn't have the experience in tanks...86k a year...home every day...job was 10 min from my house...unload one load a day....one week you work 5 on 2 off the next 4 on 3 off...lol paid medical. ...maaan im sorry just had a moment

So should I just google local tanker companies? Or look on craigslist and indeed? I suppose I might have to pull a saltwater truck to get experience but don't think they pay to well. Glad I got a while to figure it out. What do you recommend I do after year if I want one of those nice local tanker jobs?

The worst thing I've noticed about your line of work is somw of the stations you have to deliver are absolutely awful to try and get in and out of. I don't know how some of you do it.

How about a simple goatee? Are those taboo as well?

What about someone who's a veteran but just never pulled a tanker before?

I've been thinking about something that will still pay well when I decide to give up LTL.

    May I present.....:)

Hi GC, personally speaking, I've found the good companies don't generally advertise( unless desperate).I've had my best luck getting a list of companies that do what you're interested in, and go in, IN PERSON! 1st, it shows you mean business, and not sitting on your duff pushing buttons. 2nd, it's a lot harder to turn you away if you are standing right there, as I've heard, HR departments are so inundated with e-mails, they don't even look at them. One place that was hiring, I heard, got over 200 e-mails in one day. You'll have that extra edge going in, in person. Good luck

About a month, loving it so far but the end goal is either local or o/o.

Right now its super busy in tanks and nearly all of them are hiring, My terminal is about 15 drivers short now and has been since i started with them 6 months ago, just cant figure out why no one want to pull tanks
One year of a clean mvr is what most are looking for and they will train you
