Hey Slim Shandy, I'm here in Chicago as well. I graduate my CDL program, I have my Hazmat/Tanker endorsement and am looking for something other than the mega-carriers that came to our school. I have a clean MVR and no criminal background. I am speaking with Carry Transit on Monday, but any leads would be appreciated.

Why go food grade if you have hazmat? Docking your own pay seems a bit much. Chemical bulk will pay more.

Well I live in Shreveport, la so there's about 3 terminals that are within 300 miles, QC terminals that is. Tell me if this would be a bad idea. I stick where I'm at for 1 year then go O/O and pull for QC (or martin as there's a terminal here). Or would that equate to disaster since I'd have no tanker experience?

They will teach you everything you need to know. But taking time to see if you are comfortable with it before taking the plunge is a great way to start.

Can't help with any leads, If you can hire on with Carry that would be a good place to get experience, even though its only food grade.
Schneider would be a place that would hire you with no experience.
I think Superior also hires new grads.
Give QC a call and see what they say, but I'm pretty sure you'd need a minimum of 1 yr
Good luck, keep pushing some tanker job will hire you

I just graduated with my CDL and all my endorsements. Is anyone familiar with the SW Missouri area? I wanna get into tanker right off the bat. Anyone know of any leads besides the company's china posted?
Also any ideas on what type of questions I should ask these company's when I call em? I know the basic stuff but, what type of assessorial pays are important to a tank driver?
