Quest Global sometimes cuts slack on their "3 mos. exp. required" for a husband/wife/girlfriend team. They run hard coast to coast with long runs.

Many companies websites are hard to navigate or not up to date. They hire new cdl grads, but it's not clear on the website.
    Danny Herman Trucking
Freymiller - click on "Restore Program" for new cdl grads. www.drive4freymiller.com
Schuster - nations largest ice cream hauler.
    Navajo Express
    FFE (Frozen Food Express)
TWT Refrigerated Service - teams split .60 cpm

Most companies don't allow cats and the ones that do usually want proof they've been declawed. Let someone watch the cats for you until you have your own assigned truck, then sneak the little stowaways aboard; many truckers do that; it's kind of an open secret. Pet fees are also expensive; one company charges $2000.00 pet fee.

Wow. Thank you @Chinatown so much! You are awesome. We have a spreadsheet of our top companies and not one of the ones you listed was on it. We must be going about it wrong. Really, thank you.

Until you see 8 of the little ######## on the dashboard at the truck stop.

Kinda hard to hide the smell of cat piss all over everything you own too. Permeates, deep, never comes out. A detergent hasn't been invented yet to cut that odor.

And think about the next guy driving that stank-wagon when you get all trucker-angry, IT AIN'T FAIR! and quit, like about anyone that's driven a semi for 6 months.

I'm with @Coolbreeze100 - bring them along as a source of food in case you break down in ND in the dead of winter and even the closest tow guy says 'Welp....... Yer F'd'. Isn't any reason to keep any animal penned inside a rolling box simply to assuage your own loneliness. It's selfish.

Chapter 2: Letting the critter ride in your lap while you attempt to maintain control of an 80k lb vehicle. :|

Schools usually push 4 or 5 specific companies; it makes their job easy in the "job placement" department. Some of the better companies the schools either never heard of or just won't mention.
@ClimbRocks - start submitting applications right now; don't wait. This will give you plenty of time to consider the job offers before graduation. You'll receive job offers before graduation that are contingent on successfully completing cdl school and having any required endorsements. If you want runs to Canada or through Canada, you'll need a passport or passport card.

If you're a dirtbag climber (like me) then:

    1. You're proud to be called a dirtbag.

    And

    2. This lifestyle can look mighty appealing.

Only time will tell and i wish you the best of luck. I'm about to finish up my first year in a few weeks. Many don't make it this long.

If you're NOT a dirtbag climber then I apologize if I offended you and will now move along.

PLEASE PLEASE DO THE CATS A FAVOR

And find somewhere that will take them off your hands.

Because unless the cats are used to riding in trucks, they may be so stressed out that they will have a short life. The other thing is trucks are not escape proof, so an escaped cat is bad when they get run over in front of you by a idiot driver.

Trust me on this one, I just inherited two cats that are in recovery, one was a truck kitten trained to be in a truck and cost my driver a good amount of money but his wife, who rides with him thought it would be a great idea to get another and she picked on up in Mississippi at a shelter just before it was going to be euthanized and tried to train it to ride in the truck, it tried to escape a few times and was so stressed it stressed the truck kitten and both of them pissed and crappped all over the truck. I had the truck professionally cleaned a month ago ($450) and the cats stayed with a friend of mine until we could get them up here. They are both great cats, cause no issues with the others I have, even plays with my neighbors dog when he comes over which all the others scatter when he is at the door.

So please forget the pet idea .... please. Focus on driving and learning.
