My husband has been with Roehl since the end of March.
Mileage is ok, nothing outstanding, had a low week but he requested to be home and they got him in on Weds. evening when he needed to be home on a Friday, the load he was under didn't unload until Monday morning, so yeah they definitely got him home lol. That's what I credit the low week to, being loads aren't overly predictable I guessed his dispatcher wanted to be sure to have him home, not complaining though. So far he's been home pretty much weekly and able to have a load to pick up on Monday morning to get going again, which is a shock. He use to have to stay home for a week, sometimes 2 to find a load from out around here, even then there was usually a lengthy deadhead involved. Yesterday his load picked up just under 60 miles from the house going to Wisconsin. Overall mileage isn't to bad, not the greatest, but not the worst either, we'll see as things progress.
He started out as Great Lakes regional with a flatbed. The lumber tarps are heavier than tarps he's use to so he had issues with them, admitted they were going to cause more harm than good and requested to go to the van division (he loves flatbed, did it for years so it wasn't being a newbie to it, just the tarps lol). He then ran into a couple of the curtainside drivers and talked to them so instead of van he's curtainside. They only have national on that so we will see how often he's home now, the last place he was at I saw him twice in 4 months, so we're use to him being gone unfortunately lol.
Any other curtainside drivers on here? Just wondering how it's liked it as a whole since he's only been there for a little over a week now. They told him 90% of the loads come east and that where we reside (we're right off I86) is a good place for a curtain driver to live. Sure it is, time will tell lol.
Anyway, just wanted to say so far so good with Roehl, doing better than expected but that could all change as we continue on. You know trucking, one week a company is great, the next it stinks to high heaven.
Hope you all are having a good week and are safe out there!

Did your husband do the training/classes and get his cdl license at Roehl and then get a job there. Where did he go for that? I'm from NJ and my boyfriend is looking to get into truck driving but has zero experience and no CDL license yet. Checking out truck driving schools and came across your post. I assume the company is a good one? There's so many scams out there!

My husband got his CDL from All-State Career school out of Lester Pa back in 1993 (I think they're still there?), so he's had it awhile lol.
Training is hit or miss there, I guess, I've read it's good and just read someone say there are a couple of trainers that have issues, so luck of the draw (probably like it is just about anywhere). There are good days and bad, just like any other job. Miles wise, we haven't really been with them long enough to formulate an average, especially since he just switched divisions, so it's a time will tell situation.
