The safety guys in the office always say that crap. But they never train or discipline the supervisors in the field.. and expect green horns to speak up like some martyr.
Guess what? No one is going to listen to you when you "stop the job" to tell them they need ppe to be standing on an acid tank while it is being filled.
Its all cya theater. If you see someone being stupid... stay away so you don't get involved.security58 Thanks this. -

There is a 98 pound 22 year bold on my crew. She doesn't do anything and makes the same as the men.
You should be fine on a vac truck. -
One thing I can say about me is I am a hard worker. I was the only female that we had while I was driving at my current company. I had to move around 55 gallon drums on some of the deliveries. I worked harder than most because I never wanted any of the guys to say that I couldn't do that job. By working hard I gained their respect. I hope to carry that over to the oil fields. I am stubborn that way. According to my husband, too stubborn for my own good sometimes.

Tracy, 3 women total on my first day, one girl's husband already works at halliburton in frac. The girl in my group is about 5'3, and small in stature but looks pretty tough (she's got some hardcore sleeve tattoos but stays quiet in class for the most part). She was also volunteered as a supervisor for her crew like I was. You can do it!!!
Giggles the Original and TracyN Thank this. -
Sounds intense.I cant wait to start.

Thanks for all the great info
I have a wide foot so I'm not sure if I should pick up a pair beforehand. -
Red wing boots--they're super comfortable. We had 3 types to choose from and I got the 4499's. One guy in the group asked for a size 14 and they had it, it was a mobile sales type truck they showed up in. Also had the 4440's and 4435's (I ask a lot of questions). They also give you a boot credit once a year.
Started w/96 8 days ago and as of today only 57 left. Deadline for those w/o a cdl is this coming Friday and hearing what I have and seen more will be cut. I'm liking everything so far.Texas Bound Thanks this. -
Great to hear, I was planning on picking up Red Wings anyway.
I guess some people didn't know what they were signing up for or didn't have the drive to stick with it. Glad to hear you're liking it though. I'm going to start my driving lessons on Monday since I got most of my classroom time out of the way at my CDL school. If everything goes well hopefully I'll see you down in the Elmendorf yard come November or December. Can't wait to trade in this Chicago Freeze for some Texas heat.
