Good luck to ya educated, my uncle and younger brother started at haliburton. The training is def. top notch there. I drive a water bottle myself here in the WV oil and gas fields and quite happy making 17 an hour to start. I love the job.
So here's what happened to me on Thursday........

wrong location.midland/odessa has more drivers
to choose from,so they can pick and choose.
I just quit otr a month ago to work in the oil fields.
took a 2 week tour of Texas checking things out.
Here's what I learned,I have driving expierence
but no oilfield expierence.
Midland/odessa,
walked thru the door, say hi,asked a few questions,
they answered them, handed a application, told
to fill it out and they'll get back to me.
Pecos Texas,
water/vac job
walked thru the door, said hello,I'm looking for a job,
we shook hands then immediately hopped in a truck
and done a road test before we knew each other's name.
passed the road test he wanted me to start working
that night. 18 bucks an hour and time and a half.
Didn't take the job, wanted to see what else was out there..
Fort stockton texas
Water/vac jobs
same as pecos, hired on the spot, 17 an hour to start,
6 on 2 off. Didn't take it,don't need to work that much.
carrizo springs, Texas
Water/vac job
walked thru the door said I'm looking for a job,
he said good,we need drivers,we immediately
jumped in a truck and done a road test before
doing any type of paperwork.
passed the road test,he pulled my dmv off his computer,
then sent me to pee in the bottle, went to work the next night.
12 hour shifts,4 on 2 off, 18.50 hr to start,100 bucks a week
perdiem, and free housing.double time on holidays and if you
work on your birthday.
All your husband needs is a class A with tanker and he can
get these same jobs if he's willing to work in these locations
for awhile to get some expierence.Desert_3agle, Old Salt, Chibob and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks Western Flyer,
He is in Midland again this week looking. I will start to research other locations. -
Everyone has different experiences. Good news is he will find something. Maybe not as fast as some and maybe not as long. But he will. Just keep at it. Good luck. -
Hey Everyone I want to let you all know he got a job today. I don't want to jinx it so I will let you know more about it after he actually starts. He did get it by going to the oilfield and applying in person. In all he was there three days so it wasn't long at all. Thanks to everyone who has provided advice. You can't even begin to know how grateful we are.
gdyupgal, Chibob, Western flyer and 2 others Thank this. -

i think there are quite a few " CDL holders in here that forget how they started..... it ain't been that long ago that driveing hours for OTR were logged at 70 hrs on paper ,,, when reality the driver gave up roughly 20 - 30 hours a week setting at docks or waiting on dispatch, only to have to be 700 miles by 8 am the next day... for a whole $.25 @ mile.... get done and repeat and actually work 120 hours or more a week... just sayin (and i know this because i started driving in 1993) (AND EVERRYONE MISSED TWO POINTS.. 1. His wife is a teacher...i.e. she has a good job 2. He is home every day.. Not to shabby IMHO)HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
Spent a lot of time parked up the street from Stripes by airport. Had a well that sanded in 3 times.
