I am 75" and weigh 270lbs. I am on the "new me" plan:
1) No sodas or caffine (hard because I drank like 3-4/day)
2) Only fruits & Vegs & Lean Cuisines
3) No salt and low carbs
4) Running every morning (more like jogging and walking) for 1 mile
5) Practice the Pre-Screen exercises every night
6) Lots of H2O
Here's my progress so far:
Resting Heart Rate (RHR) this morning: 89 bpm
After run (walked last 500 feet): 138 bpm
1 hr after run RHR: 110 bpm
I am doing my pulse manually, so the numbers are off slightly. I find it hard to control my breathing while counting and not losing my place.
I will post more numbers over the next two weeks, as I hope to start around the 28th. -
ok, keep it up

Where are you going to orientation at? I should also be starting with Roehl on the 28th. In Marshfield.
-
Same if everything goes right. Although, I am still waiting on verifications, DOT physical and to pass the permit. BUT, from what I've heard the whole process goes pretty quickly.
Late Edit Addition: 13" Step rapid pace for 1 min: 164 bpm average (I repeated it three times with 5-10 minute rests between)
I did 13" to make sure I would be ready for 12"Last edited: Jun 12, 2010

Pickens, run to walmart, in the sporting good section, they should have some heart rate monitoring watches. I picked one up here for $27, seems quite accurate too. I got the Sportline S7 http://www.walmart.com/ip/S7-HR-Monitor/10719753
-
I looked at that and the S12, but I want something that constantly monitors heart rate. I think those two you have to push the button to get a reading? Is that true? Which I guess isn't a big deal if they're accurate.
I want the type of monitor that is constantly reading and will alarm if I get too high.
Day Two
RHR: 74 bpm
After Running: 168 bpm (in middle of run after jogging up a big hill)
1hr later:
4hr later:
13" Step 1: 143 bpm
Squats: 125 bpm
I am doing the step faster than they show on the video so I can be ready for the BIG day.
JUST FOUND OUT MIGHT NOT NEED TO DO STEPS.Last edited: Jun 13, 2010

Wiseguy, what are you doing to prepare?
-
Hindsy, who starts tomorrow apparently says Roehl doesn't do the step test anymore. If true, YES!!!! The rest of the exercises aren't too bad.
