So how does one deal with dispatch that only give good runs to those who pay him?

Yeah, I got a little lost but that's not uncommon for me.

Ma'am; Like China said and I THINK Stone meant and everyone else has pretty much said; BAIL. Just do it RIGHT and with thought and take the last bite outta the crap sandwich with a (albeit forced and false) grin so they don't report your Mr. badly to the good company he is going to work for. I'd make up some legitimate sounding BS about why I was leaving to keep the good reference but I'd get away from them faster than a gator with his tail on fire and his head catching. (Props to The CDB). That's fast. Like a New York or Skinny Minute. Like REALLY fast. Like go, go, go. This thing has all the earmarks of a disaster for your family. Get thee the h&!! away from it. As China said it is rare and I will add . . .

As bad as a gator with his tail on fire and head a catchin'. Nothing good gonna come outta stayin'. Only bad cuts in that future.

    IMO

You're joking right? Would you take a $10 bill outside and light it on fire for no reason at all? Didn't think so, so why in the hell would you look at giving your hard earned money away to some dispatcher just so hell give you a load when you can go right down the road and find another job where you don't have to deal with that crap?

Cost of doing business is tied up in trailer rent which usually includes the dispatch fee. That is a cost of doing business, buying equipment is a cost of doing business, fuel tires, etc etc. Is a cost of doing business. Giving a kickback to a dispatcher IS NOT a cost of doing business.

Not only that it is dishonest. I mean seriously dispatch gets paycheck and they want more. And it is that cost of doing business attitude that makes them think they can get away with this. It's men with balls that say go to hell you're tsking food from my kids mouth. And no I don't see my husband running just so he can get a decent refrence. Good or bad not in his dna. Doing the right thing is not always the easy thing to do.

In many parts of the world paying to get people to do their job is seen cost of doing business.
Think NY construction in the 70's.
Don't let it become the norm or you will all regret it.
If you are sure this is happening , I mean sure not just suspect then report it.
I mean anonymously , to all in management.
At very least they will watch what is going on a bit closer.

I don't know about them but if I was paying some dispatcher under the table I sure wouldn't tell anyone about it. The last thing I'd want is someone else buying loads out from under me or management catching on to my trick. Think about it. It sounds like someone is blowing smoke to me. Just like you can post anything on the internet and someone will believe it, a trucker can tell a story and same thing.

If it was true I wouldn't be there long.

It is common for dispatchers to pick their best drivers and take care of them and just the opposite with the one's they don't like.

Does your husband have proof of this or does he refuse loads?I wouldn't pay dispatch to find me good runs, you're not gaining anything I wouldn't think. If hes unhappy he knows where the door is tell him to get out I know I would have quit already.

On the contrary, doing the right thing is almost always the hardest thing to do. If it wasn't, everyone would do it and we know how that goes.

    Try a nanny cam...

Once you have a recording then you have the leverage. If a person wants to extort you for their benefit you have to be willing to turn the tables or bend and take it.

Of course the best advice is leave...why work for people that do business that way? You can try to play the game but when it comes to being extorted once you have been marked you are always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

    IMHO...

How are they getting the money to the dispatcher... I dont ever see my dispatcher in person, I just talk to him over the phone or qualcomm... I am on a dedicated account and home weekends, I also leave close to the terminal where my dispatcher is, so I could take the time and effort to go see him in person, but it would eat up time that my dispatcher and myself would rather see spent running loads..

I will say this.. I have been doing really well on my account.. and I dont get many of the little short shag loads anymore... well, a guy driver on tbe same account has implied that it is because I am female and there is so ethjng going on between the dispatcher and I... total crap.. he also implied I get special treatment from the garage and mechanics the same way... the truth, which is what he doesnt want to admit or look at is I get good runs cause I am a runner, and I dont waste any time when I am working and especially when I am under a load.. where he will... the other day, he left the shippers about 20 minutes before I did and I delivered 2 hours before him.. the mechanics take good care of me because my truck is clean and well kept.. his is a mess.. I have seen trash fall out of it when he gets out at a shippers or wherever...

Now, I am not saying this is the case with your husband...

That is one thing I really like about trucking... as a female, I dont get paid less then men like in many industries.. it is t about being male or female.. it is about being a driver... about performance...
