It's not like that, I'd rather go home 30 minutes earlier or not get stuck in traffic or maybe get another run in and make a few bucks more.
I go home every day, often I only work 9-10 hrs, I get a new dispatch every time I'm empty (3-4 times a day) so I can't plan ahead for the #### thing.
Sometimes I'm on the South side of the city in the afternoon heading to points North of the city just before rush hour and as traffic is starting to build up.
30 minutes stopped can cost me my window of getting through town before things get stupid and I get stuck in stop and go jammed up traffic.
If I stop I'm looking at a couple hours to get through what might be 35-40 minutes if I didn't stop.
So now I've lost even more home time and or another load for the day.
This just skims the surface, it gets to be a problem in a lot of other aspects of my job as well.
Besides, if I want to take a break I want to take it when I want or need it as it fits into my schedule not some stupid arbitrary number mandated by some government bureaucrat.
All this thing does is make my day harder and longer and takes away my free time to the tune of 2 1/2 hrs a week ( or more).

Good point BUT you are overlooking 1 major factor.

The mega carriers are on the stock market. if they pay drivers or even o/o more it would hurt the profits of the shareholders.

it is in the best interest of mega inc to train and train. believe it or not in this screwed up world good drivers with thier deserved pay are bad for business if the company is large enough to go public.

I apologize if this goes over anyones head. if it does go over your head please educate yourselves. it is very important to know what is going on and how things work. too many of you are brainwashed or brain dead but you dont have to be

It's not going over my head ... it just seems to be a little narrow in it's application. EVERYBODY tries to save money wherever they can, you, your neighbor, your grocery store, your cable provider, your doctor, everybody. I don't subscribe to the notion only companies who have to answer to stock holders are interested in saving money. Furthermore, what makes you think that if a carrier would pay their drivers more, their productivity would increase? If paying drivers less was the best way to run a truckload carrier business, then why are they not paying 20 cents/mile? They pay what the market will bear, no more, no less. And if you have a problem with that then I don't know what else to tell you.

Find out where its going to happen. Its Friday night I'll bring the cooler full of beer and the pop corn. It is rather sad that were all fighting over the stupid 30 minute break. Guess my opinion on the matter is that an extra 30-35 miles per day I can drive. Why would I cost myself up to 180 miles per week or. UP TO key words 9360 miles per year. Now for a company driver at .35/mile that's an extra. 3276/year. I'd rather make an extra 3276/year as opposed to sitting on my butt for 30 minutes.

And NONE of that is taking into account the restart provision. Am I going to complain about the rules nope I'll deal with them. However tell every other person in the country that have to take a $3000+ cut in pay each year and see how they react. See my point?

The new regs should have never been put in place as they do not make sense. i fully understand how they work but it is really stupid.

but at least some of us are having fun busting balls of the whiners. this has really given me something to do as i sit wait nap sit wait and load my tank with high paying loads that a mega carrier could never haul. as long as i dont get a tracking device maybe they should enforce more bs laws on YOU PEOPLE!!.......... Big brother is watching you!

Be good little boys and take time to use a real potty and actually just maybe check your equipment.... if you even know what you are looking at in the fist place that is.......

There are other threads that are dealing with the restart.
