I've read alot of your posts but I'm a little confused. You seem to say you dont have time to take a 30 min break. Are you working a 14 hour day? If so, you cant find a 30 min break within the first 11 hours of driving? Ok, 8 hours.

Maybe he took a 40 minute break at 4 hours and he took a 15 minute break at Sonic at 6 hours and another 20 minute break waiting for paprwork at 11 hours ... all those breaks and he's not compliant? And that's righteous? Stop telling people how to do their job. We have enough in DC doing this, we really don't need your "input"

40 minute break at 4 hours is legal.

The rule is to not have drivers exceeding 8 hours nonstop driving.

Not true . If you spend 2 hours loading then drive over 6 hours driving you have to take a break or be in violation .

Yes. The rule is not to drive past 8 consecutive hours period since starting your 14... on duty, driving, off duty, whatever... unless the off duty is more than 30, then the 8 hours starts over.

Well I am one of those dangerous drivers that would drive his 11 hours and not stop !!! So as far as the 30 min break ....so far I have done it but I still think it is stupid !

But I will do it until they throw all this stupid crap out and start all over fixing the things that don't need fixing so they don't have to deal with the things that do need fixing .

Like so many other stupid safety things in trucking I just shake my head and play the game the way they want it played on paper !!!

I must be ok Arkansas DOT checked my logs and said I was playing the game the way they wanted me to the other day .

So the sky did not fall and trucks are still going down the highway so I guess trucking has survived another world ending government ruling and life as I know it will go on after all !!!

I am so relived to see that we will survive to drive another day and a safer day at that because 30 min breaks make us all better drivers !!

It would seem some are going to be called in to have a discussion with safety because it appears some don't fully understand how the 30/8 minute break rule works. And imagine how the reset rule is going to confuse some?

And yes, I do have a problem with those who eagerly accept more restrictions and limitations on freedom and the ability to make a living, then have the nerve to tell others they should be like them and be a good little sheep and fall in line. If you stand by for this, what's next? We are going to have to document when we had a successful bowel movement? I realize this is law, and there's not a whole lot that can be done about at this point, and griping about it may seem a futile endeavor, but if we just give up and lay down, there will never be an end to future regs and limitations. I'm done quietly standing by as government UN-ELECTED officials impose more and more of their will, with no oversight and no control on their powers.
