You're assuming safety understands it. :biggrin_2559:

One of our drivers reminded me yesterday that the reset needs to be taken at your home terminal, lol.

It is pretty hard to wrap your head around having to take a break sometime within the first 8 hours of going to work isn't it !!!

I know I had to hire a state worker to explain it to me and I still get confused !!!
I am lucky though for an extra 500 bucks he gave me the hotline number to the U.S. marshals ......I know it was a great deal the last guy wanted a 1000.00 for the number :biggrin_25511:

Me too Tex, in the fifties and sixties, workers united and made their voice heard. The only time changes will come are when the indutry unites as a whole. A nation wide shutdown will get their attention. The trucking industry needs a Jimmy Hoffa that can get everybody together!

Not going to happen when the majority of the steering wheel holders are fully against any kind of union, for whatever reason.

Just one major city shut down would be enough.

Seems like I end up working 7 hours and 45 minutes and then drive around frantically looking for a place to stop where I can park and eat. I'd prefer to stop after 5-6 hrs and have it worked into the schedule a little smoother, but that ain't how LTL works most days.

This is the sort of thing I'm up against most days.

It seems that a lot of folks responding to this topic can't get their heads around the fact that not everybody just sits behind the wheel pulling a box all day long.

What break? Honestly I've yet to have the opportunity to take one and the boss outright discouraged it.

Well that's not the fault of the industry, that's an isolated employer and a trucker (you) who allows this to go on. You know the saying, give them an inch, they'll take a mile. I bet you can't find 1 in 50 truckers who would stand for that sort of treatment if it's like you say, every day. Move on, or stand your ground.
