Just because you're in a daycab doesn't necessarily mean there's someplace to stop and break with AC all the time.
Out here in the West there's plenty of places you can run out of hrs. in BFE on a hot day.

So how is the 30min breaking working out?

Taking mine right now in Texas canyon on I-10. I think I understand why most religions start in the deserts. Beautiful place just wish it was daylight but 80 degrees ain't bad

On a side note, the newer R models aren't much better. Still the same POS, but this time they have air conditioning and a AM/FM radio. More stuff to break, I guess.Last edited: Jul 17, 2013
FatDaddy Thanks this. -
From my very limited experience, 10 days in the truck with a trainer, My trainer hates it, but rolls with it.....I don't know it anyway different so to me it's business as usual, we just start planning on a place to stop about an hour or so out from when we need to take the break, get out use the facilities, walk around, stretch, make small talk with others, or my trainers personal favorite activity CLEANING OUT his already spotless truck.....dude can find dirt in a surgical ward if you turned him loose in one.

Playing Devil's Advocate here but all your arguments are in favour off the break.
Let's flip it on it's head.
You are for no break which means that in your case you would be in a truck ,14 hours straight, without a decent AC.
(only getting out to load or unload which is labor intensive in your case)
The people writing the laws would say that is dangerous and that is part off the reason why they made the 30min break.
NOBODY says you have to take your break in your truck.
And there's is a 2 hour window in which to take your break,so the argument as there being no places to take your break away from the truck is a weak one.
Let's no forget that in any public debate, wanting to work 14hours straight without a break, you will lose the debate.
"Joe public" will have no understanding off why you can be opposed to the break.
Just a few things i wanted to bring to attention in this debate.
My personal view is that they could have made it 2 x 15min which would have made more sense.
But then again, laws have very little to do with common sense. -
It begs to differ if drivers actually know how to play the game. You need to know the rules first.
To elaborate, you have to stop within 8 hours to take a break that will count against your 14. If I were still driving a truck with a sleeper birth, I'd start using the 8-2 split.
Just sayin.daf105paccar Thanks this. -
What if its your truck ...can u "clean " the inside of your truck while on break? Hee Hee..or will the "clean police" come and arrest me for working and being on duty? ? Hee Hee
My luck I'd be caught red handed with broom in hand...Come and get me copper ....LMAO
