Us company drivers have no choice but to comply with what the company tells us to do. My back bone hurts many times from getting in and out of my truck. Not worried about fuel, I drive slow. Company pays for my pens, along with $100K Plus yearly wages. So in the long run, Im going to do exactly what boss man wants me too do. I don't squat when I pee.:biggrin_2559:

I have air, the company says we have to be out of the truck, can not take break inside truck, and has to be 31 minutes. I agree, get out of the truck, go inside where the air is on.

I do wish they'd amend the rule to say "30 min or 2 15 min breaks". I have to stop to drain the coffee anyway, and that would cover it.

The way I did my breaks for many years at my company , and I run local Chicago, 12 -14 stops a day, I would go inside, walk straight to the restroom. After I made all my stops, within 8 - 10 hrs, I would park my truck kick off my shoes, and stretch out in the cab for 30 minutes every day. Sometimes If I was not feeling good, the break would be a bit longer, Feeling good when you drive is priority and safer.

Why would they say you can't take your break inside the truck?

From practical experience working with Elogs, 31 minutes is good advice in order to ensure you get the full 30, otherwise if it comes up 29minutes 30 seconds, it shows not compliant.

JJKeller has an article about a revision in guidance from the FMCSA regarding the 30-minute break:

Not buying it. My thinking is in a day cab most drivers are going to be within 5.5 hours of home at all times. Maybe running in the oil field or a construction dump truck. I take most of my breaks at customers anyway. They almost all have break rooms we can use.

We'll send ours out 11 hours away. Then the drivers carry their stuff into the motel and come back the next day. :biggrin_25511:

Fair enough. I still think somewhere between hour 3 and hour 8 there will be someplace to stop and get out of the truck except in very rare circumstances.

I have no idea, about why not taking the break in the truck, but boss man says, take breaks out of the truck.
