If you contact Schneider. They will keep in contact with you.
Schneider's school is near where I grew up.
There is a ton of tanker in Houston.
Only big problem I have with Schneider. Intelligent Life Forms not allowed in truck.
So, how much am I REALLY going to make my first year?

Yeah, don’t listen to clowns on the internet that make blanket statements about not starting out in tankers or not starting out local. These companies know what they’re doing, and if they are willing to hire you and train you, and it’s what you want, then you should go for it.
I didn’t listen to the naysayers, and went straight into local work right out of school. After 1 year I switched to fuel hauling. I would have regretted it, had I listened to people who told me I needed to cut my teeth doing OTR. -
You couldn't have put it better. If you're going to be choosy about where and when you run, you won't last long in this industry. The best way to make money is run when the money calls. That being said, don't do anything unsafe.Lepton1 Thanks this.

According to my calculations after food while in truck, and taxes, you might earn minimum wage.
So apply for food stamps now.TripleSix Thanks this. -

@truckinAman your best bet is going to lone star college or houston community college, that way you got some hours under your belt and majority of companies will take you without the hassle.

Are you referring to animals, riders, or the drivers?!

Good info thanks! I just finished my CDL course and test out on Wednesday. I have applications in at most of those and some others(OD, YRC, UPSF, Estes, AAA Cooper). Looks like I'm making a trip down to H-town next week to interview some companies!Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

It’s not really that different. I actually haven’t had to load or unload anything since training. The company is good about gradually easing new drivers in. Yea you get used to surge hitting you in the back but it’s not really a big deal just go slow on turns and leave good following distance. On the bright side you don’t have to mess with tandems
Also when doing hazmat remember the three Ps: PPE, paperwork and placards.
