Many feel your not O/O unless you run on your own authority and if running on a companys authority its a L/O. I see their point but what the heck I Own and Operate my truck. Juat get my loads and insurances through an established company :)

i consider L/O people who lease the truck. Just cuz a company leases my services to use for their freight doesn't mean im not an o/o. But I dont care o much. I make as much as many of the guys with authority and dont need to deal with the extra bs having auth brings..

Well I run my own authority so I would say I am an independent owner operator. If you run someone else's authority, pull their freight, maybe even use their wagon but you own the truck. Can have it worked on any where can take it with you when you quit I think you are by all means an owner operator. Even if the bank will look for it if you don't find work soon lol. I would think a lease operator can't take the truck with him and has their hands tied even at small decisions.

Well that's a debate I'm willing to have, I've showed my numbers to lots of people and to this day I've only seen one person with better numbers than me he is on a 20/80 split and no money comes out his 80% the guy covers plates IFTA insurance everything we gross the same but he keeps $15,k more than me a year.

I am one of them guys that think leased truck owners are just that leased operators, anytime things don't work out and you can just throw your hands up and move somewhere else your business model don't have to work like mine does I find my own customers insurance plates IFTA do billing everything is in my control lease operators don't have to worry about as much as me infact all you need to worry about is keeping your truck going and if your check is right. I can't go to my carrier when I need money I have to go to the bank and get it not a loan but savings because the bank don't like my numbers.

Before things get twisted I'm talking about legal loads and not running crazy I drive 60,000 miles a year I made $188,900 gross and drove 60,k miles last year and sleep in the truck 84nights so you keep doing what people tell you to do and I'll do what I choose to do!!!

Well there we go. See what I mean many are dead set on your not an owner unless you run your own authority. Even though I own 100% of my truck paid in full.
So lets clear it up no longer should we be referred to as O/O or L/O it needs to O/O/O, L/O/O, and L/L/O just no one gets confused or their feeling hurt. Me I dont care what you call me just so I get paid LOL

That sound like a lot more work. You have a few sentences that dont make sense but i get the jist of it. Anyway, just cuz we don't make as much as you per mile doesn't mean were not owner ops. We still have business decisions to make and a business model to follow. I dont do what people tell me. I choose freght, o refuse freght, I go where i want and take off when i want.

not all lease carrier are the same. i dont directly pick, but i refuse loads all the time. I also tell my FM exacly what I want. He gives me his best 3-5 options...and if i dont like nay of him...i tell him to go back and try again. Im never forced to do what they want me to do, and i make them tons of money runing when and where i want.
