I saw it done once but never knew that it had an official term. -
The only option seems to be being a Time Lord. -
There is actually an over-sized tire machine, one just went at auction for $1700.
I'm surprised truck tire places around here don't have them.
most places just use two tire bars. Hence, the phrase "barring on a tire."
I also took a bad hub, and welded it to a big plate - just to hold the 19.5 rim.
The studs keep the rim from moving, so you can spin it off, or on.
I welded a 3 ft. section of pipe up in the center.
Now you can take a 6 ft. bar, and run the tire bead the rest of the way off,
using the piece of pipe like the center of a car tire machine.
flip it over and do same thing, done.
Then you don't look like the monkey and his love interest, the football.Last edited: Jul 5, 2024

I'm not saying you cant do it on a 19.5 mounted tire, but it's easier on a 22.5
More sidewall material to wiggle and wobble around covered in Dawn.
I know there's goop for that, but Dawn makes it mega slippery.
Giant 3' red rubber sledgehammer helps. too.
I ground/polished, and buffed that wheel edge to look satisfactory.
I also drove by that curb radius again today and looked it over,
it appears someone didn't get the concrete curb form matching the radius
of the next, resulting in a 3" point sticking out where it's not supposed to be.
So I can drive after all!! -

I always carry these 2 types of tire spoons for emergencies. They're not super long and take up little space. I've dismounted blowouts and continued home if I'm empty and the tire is on the outside position. 5-10 minutes of taking the tire off or a few hours sitting on the side of the road is a no-brainer. Still I understand if your company wouldn't allow that. -
