I paid this sort of ticket twice. The first time I was completely oblivious to the law and I was rolling empty all the way from Portland down to Salinas with the tandems all the way back. That reefer was junk and the slider was junk too.... The fix was easy but they did fine me though. The other time the a-holes told me I was 3 holes too far....made me go inside the trailer and I had to rearrange the freight - batteries or the alternative was to call a service to do it for me.
The question to a road and bridge building engineers - Does that law make any sense, or is it some post Civil War Technology relic?.
So I got a king pin ticket in Cali last week ??

I think it has more to do with maneuverability than it does road and bridge engineering. Same reason short doubles are still so popular out there.
REO6205 and SixShooterTransport Thank this. -
Speaking of King Pin. Anyone seen that movie lately?

Here's a novel idea, if you're going to run a 53' trailer in the State of California, make sure you're set at 40'. Problem solved

Or... y’all could just run legal and not have to worry about any of this. It’s always something, isn’t it? E-Logs, bridge law, speed limits, etc. If there weren’t so many “the law is dumb so I’m not gonna follow it” drivers out there we wouldn’t have so many dumb laws to begin with.
I hate California just as much as everyone else, but I get paid good money to run out there because there are so many drivers that can’t or won’t.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
