Do you have a GPS with the delorme, I just turned Delorme on and used it switched GPS on find address add as final, gps as start (i was somewhere off 20 in AL I believe when I started). I didn't mess with settings.

MS Streets and Trips > Delorme imho, so much easier to learn.

K so I turned that crappy program back on and it still had the address from the place we were headed in memphis so here is screen shots of the route which I did this time from Atlanta to Memphis, and it STILL routed me that same way.

    I see it...but I still can't believe it.

Here's mine, short and fastest route. And yes, it does have the GPS.

Yeah, thats the route MS trips took. I have to say I like MS trips way way way way way better, I think its easier to use and easier to read the #### map.

For those of you going, why use it?

Here is a very quick run through of the why.

I can use it in 3 ways. I can use it with GPS route me quick, route me around tolls, and most importantly to rereoute me if the directions my co gave me were wrong on the fly. I can redo its route, tweak it to change roads I know are not truck friendly, and generally it gives me pretty #### accurate on the fly etas.

I can also use it as a map, with no gps. A map with CITY BASED streets that I can ZOOM TO HUGE at any time. It has pretty much every street in every city/town/etc in america, give or take a few. So if the company directions are wrong, OR there is bad traffic I can quickly look around and route around it. Its far superior to ANY printed map in that regard.

It does NOT list non truck routes.
It does NOT list weight limits.
It does NOT list low bridges.

There is a program addition you can buy that will add truckstops, weighstations, and some low clearances but I don't like it as its not overly accurate.

In a situation where your company directions make no sense you can zoom to the address by searching the address and checking the directions yourself before getting out there. If you are dumb, like my husband, and chose to wait till you get there to discover that the company directions make no sense (like that time we had to deliver in Des Moines, to a USPS facility on Third Street) then your co driver or yourself can look at the street level directions and find a way to get back to where the delivery/pickup is >.>

That snapshot I provided is Delorme.

Zooming to street level, is handled by auto-pilot to pre-set levels and speeds. I never have to touch mine, once I set the route. If I need to zoom...God Forbid. It's a simple keystroke away.

If I need a detour. It's a one key stroke operation.

While I don't understand why yours didn't/doesn't function as mine. It could be a preferance setting thing.

Delorme is still a good product IMO.

Don't like it at all, I didn't use it when I first bought it because I hate the way the map looks, its confusing and hard to read to me. i do like the sat detail pictures (you can buy them for all over though they take forever to download) though, but I really don't like the way it looks, still haven't figured out all the settings. I do think it is neat it is able to be voice controlled. I liked the auto reroute feature. I like the date/time version of an eta instead of the hours version on MS then it took me on this little detour, so I am never using it again. Ever.

So anyone wanna buy a slightly used Delorme software? LOL Jk

Co-pilot version I had was outdated and didn't even know where 78 was half the time lol. Map age has a lot to do with it. That's why you prioritize signage over gps.

Really, i have never had a problem in a decade of driving by calling the customer. They have always given me good directions, much better than a map or GPS because they can tell you the best way to get in by truck and they usually have specific directions writen down or an automated message for drivers when they call. If you call and get the receptionist she might not be able to give you good directions but I guarentee that if you ask for shipping/recieving they can tell you.

I never used GPS, I don't even have GPS. I always got by with an atlas and phone. I have been across North America so many times that I don't even have to open an atlas anymore anyway. I always liked to have my directions written down, I don't like the idea of relying on a computer to tell me where to go, some of these new drivers couldn't even plan a trip without GPS

LMAO... I delivered in Seattle once, called customer who was 2 blocks from I-5, and ask what side east or west. The interstate was the start of the 100 block, both directions.

Answer, Hang on I gotta ask somebody.

still I would rather trust the customers directions than the GPS, I would rather talk to a human being than listen to what a computer tells me
