OPINIONATED? Is that the word you are looking for? Go ahead and use it if you wish it doesn't hurt my feelings a bit.
One doesn't have to be a "Lawyer" to know what one's "rights" are.
That is what is wrong with most of you LEO types. You THINK you are the only "Holders of Knowledge" when most of the time you couldn't find your own butt with two hands, a roadmap and a flashlight.
YOUR problem is you hate it when someone like me knows what OUR rights are, that is what makes LEOs like you dangerous.
And it seems that you have personally singled me out for your childish tirade, when there are a couple others here with a little common sense who have posted not only the LAW that allows US to video record misbehavior (or even possible CRIMINAL behavior), but referenced the specific SUPREME COURT DECISIONS as well.

I am beginning to get that idea every time I see the way you respond to myself and others.

I'm not going to read this whole post since we are down to what exactly?

Wanted to know about a truck search...in the lower 48 few and far between usually the magical words of "Yes Sir and No Sir or Ma'am" seem to go far.

Now if you're traveling in Canada and back across don't be shocked if they want to search and sorry to say they have every right. Sometimes it's a quick across and sometimes it hours since they have decided to search every freaking truck in line. I cross on the Western half of the US so I can't say what goes on the Eastern half.

    Ode to the LEO's:

After reading some of the responses, not disclaiming the one's about "meeting you types on the highway, would make for an 'interesting' day."

I've come to some deductions about certainly 'some' LEO's.

In my opinion, EVERY 'would be' officer in training OR currently on duty should be REQUIRED to weekly go over the Stanford Incarceration Experiment(1971) and it's implications.

In a nutshell it went like this:

Standford University students were randomly chosen to be either prisoners(insurrectionists) or prison guards(authority). The experiment had to be shut down because the treatment of the randomly chosen 'prisoners' became so cruel that their safety and mental well being were in jeopardy.

The study was used to see the effect that transpired when people were given 'at times' extreme authority over other human beings. The results were dramatic and telling... When stress was induced upon the randomly chosen 'guards' or authority figures, they treated the prisoners with increasingly MORE humiliating tasks... to the point of dangerous abuse of said authority.

I urge ALL LEO's to read these studies(perhaps weekly) and take heed to the implications the results pose on their professional conduct.

Please do a google search on 'Stanford Incarceration Experiment'

I think that every sociology 101 class has this study in it along with all the introduction to corrections and law enforcement. I believe, as I stated in an earlier post on this thread, is that once leo's get settled into their careers they start to hang out mainly with other leo's who over time will begin to reinforce distorted world and societal views based on their limited interaction with the rest of the population. Basicly it comes down to this, if all the leo's at a scale think trucker's are d... h....ds than they will treat all truckers as such. If they maintain balance in their lives then they will have the ability to withstand those negitive influences.

Conversly, if truckers hang out at the truck stops and terminals and continuely state to one another that all leos are out to get them and they to will end up with a distorted world view.

Both are not based on reality but on percitption influenced by association.:biggrin_2551:

I'm glad to hear that LEO's have likely been exposed to the Stanford study... However, I still feel that there could/should be a daily creed prehaps recited by LEO's to remember their authority role.

The Stanford Experiment showed us that peace lovin' hippies can turn into Nazi's quickly when given extreme authority.... Behavior at least 'some' LEO's exhibit.

After all, the study does show that the abuse is perpetrated by the one's WITH authority. More directly, harm/abuse can come from LEO's getting together and saying, "ALL truckers are d..k h..ds". Whereas, little harm/abuse can come from truckers saying, "ALL LEO's are out to get us."
