This guys lug nuts were OVER torqued
stamped on lug nuts is 550-600 ft pounds torque. They easily come off with 3/4 impact. And with 4ft long torque wrench it takes no effort to torque to spec.
spray wd40 on nut and torque to spec -
-
use antisieze all you want but make sure you go back and torque your lug nuts everyweek.
Thats pretty cringe worthy.
I do all my own work. I torque everything to spec and dont have to stand on a 6 ft breaker bar to get my lug nuts off. I use the torque spec stamped on the lug nuts. Not specificied by a second party fella. -
While electric impacts are handy, you just can't beat a good 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" air impact.

And I don't consider Alcoa to be a "second party fella". Nor have I ever replaced a stud or lug nut, nor had to stand on a 6 ft bar. If I did, my 200 lbs would place approx 1200 lbs of torque on the assembly. -
Dino soar, jamespmack, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

I bought my first truck in 95. This is the end of 2019 so that's over 24 years. Never had a single lug nut come loose and I've used neversieze on them since day one. Based on that experience im a firm believer that if a lug nut came loose it's because it wasn't tight to begin with.
