Anyone who ever pulled an older Utility reefer knew that you had to hope you didn't stop on piece of pea gravel, or the doors wouldn't shut!:biggrin_25513:

Teddy_bear, thanks for the kind words, but I shouldn't get props for that. As pointed out, hopefully that driver pays it forward. (And funny how we never needed that term, back in the day.)

I think a lot of people these days are afraid of someone who approaches them, thinking something bad is going to happen to them.

About mid summer last year i was at the pilot just west of cleveland on 90. I was headed in to take a shower an as i walked by a Swift truck i noticed his air bags were not inflated so i stopped him as he was beginning to drive away. He had told be about ten miles out he was hearing some funny noises (his u-joints binding up) before he got here but couldnt figure out what it was. Turn's out the little rubber boot on the end of his leveling rod for the leveling valve was broke. Told him go inside an get me some electrical tape an i can get you down the road. 5 mins later he was a very happy man. I always try to help people out manly cause i hate to see people struggle but i guess thats just me.

One thing I also try and do at night time, if im not in the bunk. Ill keep my running lights on for other drivers that are backing to a slot next to me. Don't know how many times I wished I had a reference point back there while backing.

Good read this thread is, glad others are more than willing to go out of their way to help, rather than being a cb rambo talking crap.

i never offer my assistance, but i never say no when asked.. guess i would have been easy if i were born a female.. i've been walking to take a shower and been asked for help.. no prob, i'll hold while you shake.. get done with shower and asked to help, no problem, just ram it on back in reverse while i try to hold on for dear life..
