Throw on some Metalica and sing yourself to sleep, if you want a quiet nights sleep with no noise the truck stop is the last place to find peace.

Respectfully speaking, and in retrospect of this thread, is there any possible way to not follow this topic anymore, because we went from talking about reefers and now we are talking about the straps, and feeling we are getting off topic here, to keep the clutter of emails to a low. It is evident it is a hindrance to some drivers and that is something we cannot change, but only they can change their sleeping habits, which this topic is going to be ongoing, because it will become a flaming topic, and perhaps this is for the moderators on this website. Whether, we agree with this topic or not, I would like to petition the moderators and if it may be pleasing to them, if we could request the closing of this topic. Thanks!

How are we getting off topic? This thread isn't just about noisy reefers, its about being too noisy in general in truckstop parking lots. People complaining about idling or running reefers and APU's next to them when they want total silence.......... In a truckstop, of all places.

Of course, there's gonna be some degree of flaming, because these days, people complain about ####-near everything. Nobody's happy.

Ever hear the sayings, "You'd whine if you got kicked in the butt with a new pair of boots!" or, "You'd b***h if you got ice cubes in hell!"?

My guess, the reason why the mods haven't intervened is because no one has really done anything wrong yet. Sure, there will be a few smart-arse comments, but what did you expect?

They have a whining gland in their body. It releases a chemical into their body giving them a euphoric high similar to after sex! Ahhhhhhhhhh! :biggrin_2559:

They can't even park between the lines and follow "No Parking" signs. I'm sure that would go over well. :)

That's the only thing that bothers me. Drain my tanks? That's too much work.

That's the good thing about living in the country. Nobody owns a leaf blower. If the mower won't grind it up or blow it into the neighbors yard..... oh well! I've been there though when I lived in FL. Landscape crews like to start at the break of dawn. Especially after a late night at the bar. :biggrin_25516:

I'd drown it out with the TV. Then you dream about police chases through truck stops and stuff! :)

The air dryer popoffs work whenever the governor cuts out the compressor, it has nothing to do with whether the tanks have been drained. A leaky system will cause the compressor to run and kick out more often. and the dryer to pop off.

I have heard it on many makes, it has more to do with the engine, compressor, and air dryer than the make. The worst offender was a crate N-14 in a FLD, that one was every few seconds and very noticeable, the last one I noticed was in a Columbia with a Detroit, that one was about every 25 seconds, and you would hear the governor cutting out the compressor first.

Worst truck parked next to me lately was a loud large car hooked to a hopper in IL. You couldn't hear anything but that, even if your own truck was idling; mine wasn't, it wouldn't have helped.

I sometimes have the TV on at home to cover outside noise, and I run a room air conditioner fan for the same reason, but I need to sleep during the day.

If I lay down in a truck stop and go to sleep, I am tired. :biggrin_25518:If I am tired, just about nothing short of an airplane crashing next to my truck will wake me up:biggrin_25521:. I love the sound of a reefer, the noise is soothing. But then, I have spent my life around them. The sound of an air dryer popping off is no big deal, and people walking by talking will not wake me up. If you drive a truck, TRY to be courteous, and think of others. On the other hand:yes2557: , if you drive a truck, TRY to learn to live with way trucking is, has been, and always will be:biggrin_25511:. It ain't going to change.:biggrin_25523:

I do not care about the noise myself, if you are tired enough sleep comes sometime.
