I would advise you not to have swift pay for your schooling. Being a new driver you will not get paid a whole lot and then they will take out the cost of the school. And after paying for road expenses that won't leave you with very much. With that being said I started out with swift and found it to be not so bad. Like blown02gt said do your job, don't complain to much and deliver on time. Get a year experiance and find a better company. Swift is fine to start but you can make more money elsewhere.
So I'm Leaving To Swift

It looks as though I will be heading to Syracuse. Swift is the only company that I have submitted an application to because, they seemed to be the only Company that would consider hiring from my home area (Bennington, VT 05201). The posts here regarding Swift I have taken with a grain-of-salt and an open mind. I am going into this with no expectations other than to work hard and learn a lot while with my mentor and after. I don't have any plan on how long I will be with Swift, maybe 6 months, maybe 12 or maybe my career. I guess I will see how it works out.

You should be OK, better Swift than CR England. You won't be forced to fleace.

Thanks o/o,
I would never do the lease thing for anybody, especially CR ENGLAND. -
Good luck and drive safe.

So I am leaving on December 15th to begin orientation with SWIFT TRANSPORTATION. Not my first choice company wise but as a student, I have to take my hard knocks somewhere.

So, what can I expect? During orientation?
Also, what do I need to watch out for?
I'm getting a little nervous now and want any and all advice/feedback you can offer this newbie.

I went to orientation in Syracuse in September. The first day you take a physical, a drug test and driving test and over the course of 2 1/2 days you do a lot of paperwork and watch a lot of films. You will be done about noon time on Thursday and some will go out right away with their mentor, Others will have to wait a day ot two.
Be ready for a lot of paperwork. You will not get a driver number until Thursday. -
Good Luck Caliburn keep us posted on your experience.
